Trilegy Ellipta - voice completely going

Good evening everyone, I’ve been on Trilegy for quite a while and my voice has become very hoarse and sometimes completely goes. I used to have such a nice feminine voice but I literally have to strain to speak and I know the culprit is Trilegy Ellipta. My doctor suggested I try Trimbow but I note that also has the same side effects as Trilegy. It’s got to the point where I try and avoid work calls and communicate by email as the strain and effort to talk is exhausting. My question is: has anyone stopped taking a daily inhaler with steroids and gone back to a two drug inhaler and, if so, did your breathing get worse? I used to be on Braltus Titropium and never had a problem with my voice.

By the way, I gargle and rinse after using without fail.

I’ve been on Trelegy for several years now and my voice has definitely become weaker. However, I believe the benefits far outweigh the negatives so I’ll put up with the inconvenience.

Yes…I read that steroids are the component that is most beneficial but I’ve never been helped by predisolone (when I had a couple of chest infections) whereas from what I’ve read on this forum some people find them very beneficial. Therefore I’m wondering if I can do without an inhaler with steroids. My voice literally goes completely after a brief conversation.

I find drinking orange juice after helps, but it hasn't stopped my voice getting lower and lower.

Thank you for replying Ergendl and Maggity. I will try the orange but I think I will ask to go back to an inhaler with no steroids for a month and see what happens. If anyone else has done this please let me know the result.

Ask your gp to go back to your original inhalers as you didn't have any problems with them x

Hello. I have been on Trelegy for almost 3 years, my voice has definitely changed, quite hoarse most of the time. I gargle straight after i’ve used trelegy every evening. And rinse my mouth thoroughly. I don’t have a sore throat though.

It is a nuisance, but Trelegy suits me otherwise, and my breathing has been much easier. If you need to you could ask your GP to prescribe your old inhaler as long as it helps you.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond to me…I really appreciate it. I’ve decided to go back to a non-steroidal inhaler and see what happens. Take care everyone!
