Sorry I can't give full reading of this procedure, I don't no how ,you find it on Google, you may not bother when I tell you the cost ,I have looked into this even rang professor char secretary and got the information on it ,my GP refered me as he thought I would be a good candidate for it ,I find out it is only done privately at the cost of 12,ooo pounds each lung 24 ,ooo for both lung ,seems very unfair when thete are so many of us suffering with lung conditions

Wow, sounds amazing, particularly as it then allows the lungs to regenerate. What a shame it's not available on the NHS. Sounds like it's only for Bronchiectasis and not Emphysema, which I have.

Alice70 profile image
Alice70 in reply toPaperQueen

It is only for brochitis which I think most of us have with copd

I don't have bronchitis, don't really cough much except when I have an infection or a cold that goes to my chest. x

I was on the clinical trial for this but failed due to a leak between lobes. I agree it's a huge amount to pay privately, such a shame it's not available on the NHS yet. I did go through to two further trials to hopefully bring me back to the rejuvenair again. I failed those as well due to various conditions.

I’d never heard of it before. That sounds amazing. I wonder if it will eventually become available under the NHS? Seems unlikely though…. 😢

Hi AliceThis sounds great I got excited but then realised I had read the cost wrong. I thought it was £1200 each lung ,then realised you wrote £12,000 each lung . 😱

Lots of love xx.Sheila ❤️

garshe in reply toAlice70

I know Alice , maybe one day it will be available on the NHS 😂😂The state on our NHS I regret to say Never..

I would have willingly paid £1200 for each lung total £2400. That's less than a pair of new boobs cost lol 🤣🤣

Sending hugs xxSheila ❤️

Is that £12000.00 ?

JHutton1994 profile image
JHutton1994 in reply toladyn

12k per lung, yeah.

ladyn profile image
ladyn in reply toJHutton1994

So 24.000 for both lungs. How can they justify that amount of money. One could probably get all new organs for that price.

Thanks for your reply

Alice70 profile image
Alice70 in reply toladyn

Yes each lung 12000,00 24000,00 for both lungs ,plus 800 for scan ,if you live far away from London like I do it's train fare plus hotel

Perhaps the cost will come down as it becomes more widely available.

So sorry your didnt get on the trials Alice70 . Medicine is such a money making racket and is so unfair to people that can't afford it. Although you can't get this on the nhs at the moment, prices nearly always come down on new medicines . Companies find a way to reproduce this without damaging the patents. x

Seams so unfair Izb1

Mopsey1897 profile image

it’s the same cost for the other treatment the professor does, where he targets the vagus nerve in each lung to stop the breathlessness for emphysema patients. It’s such a lot of money sadly

Alice70 profile image
Alice70 in reply toMopsey1897

Sso unfair mopsey

Mopsey1897 profile image
Mopsey1897 in reply toAlice70

Bloody right it is unfair and I can’t see why the cost is so high. It takes around 90 minutes and you go home the same day.

This sounds amazing for those who wouldn't benefit! Like everyone said though, it's such a shame it's so expensive.
