Ern, this is very, very special. The American patient who was in UCLH for 4 and a half months fighting infections and who finally got back to Miami, would have been 96 today. Sadly after one setback and another he died peacefully at home last Friday afternoon. I have sent this picture just now to his dear wife and mentioned your words, "Above all, tranquil." I hope very much you don't mind. I think his wife will deeply appreciate the gesture. Even two days before he died, his wife emailed me to ask as a special treat, for me to forward a video and recording of me playing my version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. I was able to do that the same day and she messaged back "Tears are falling like raindrops."Thankyou Ern for enabling me to wish Jim happy 96th birthday. A painting is worth a thousand words.❤️

Thanks Ern, that means a lot. Tomorrow I return to volunteering on the ward where Jim had been so long. I'll probably have wet eyes. Jim was the most handsome man I've ever seen (Greek parents). He had the most amazing smile and when he was focused, the sharpest and most shining of eyes.

Those were the days, eh! We loved Plakias in the south of Crete and went there for a number of years. We also went to Rhodes, Skiathos and Paleochora. As I write I'm warming up with the thoughts of walking in the sun and swimming in clean warm water. In Skiathos we snorkelled a lot one year - not diving, just swimming on the top with face in the water. My goodness! What we could see! It was wonderful and I was happy to do it all day long ... until the squid!

I didn't mind the shoals of little fish but when the squid swam right under my belly I swam back to shore so fast I could have won an olympic medal! That was the end of my snorkelling!

Your painting and post have brought back some lovely memories. Thank you!

I love the Greek Islands Moy, exept Corfu I always founf to humid. I thought Zante was special after we had gone to Olympia by ferry. Can't say I facy being in the water with squid either,xx

Thank you for sharing this painting Ern, I will think of it as a lake. I'm lucky enough to live 15 mins walk away from the sea, so when I was able to get out and walk I used to be able to walk to the beach. So seeing a stunning painting of a lake is a real treat for me. Take care❤️❤️😊xxx
