Fed up and frustrated

Hi All ,

Not been on here for a little while but have been reading the posts . I don’t know what to do . I had a few problems last year resulting in pneumonia at Xmas . I had augmenting 625mg for a week . My last X-ray the end of jan was clear - but I still feel awful , my chest is tight at times and it feels uncomfortable- weird even , I feel tired , I went back to work but can only do about 30hrs instead of my usual 40 , I cough up yellow/green mucus when it does come up . I can’t exercise at all , I have a dry cough and my voice is hoarse. My ENT surgeon thinks I maybe asthmatic. I’m waiting for a chest clinic appt - the waiting time here is months . I’ve been back to the doctors numerous times and I’m fed up with feeling ill . I’m thinking of getting antibiotics off the internet or maybe asking to go private . I would welcome any advice as I’m rock bottom. Thank you for reading xx

Hi Lesley, The waiting is the worst part. When you get seen I'm sure you'll get some answers. As to antibiotics from the internet? I wouldn't. Different antibiotics are better for clearing different bugs. I personally would prefer to give my doctor another visit, with a sputum sample for testing, because then I'd be given a suitable antibiotic. Why not ring BLF help line for advice? I do hope you get your answers soon xx

I went to my doctor this week , all he said was my chest was clear and to wait for the chest clinic appt . I can’t get anything up off my chest - not enough for a sample - I just see bits when I cough in a tissue . I might ring big for advice though thank you xx

Hi Lesley, Sympathy, because i know how hard it is to get over pnuemonia. I wonder whether you went back to work a bit too early? Wouldn't buy any Meds off the internet though. You really don't no what your getting.

It’s doing my head in - is 2 months too early to expect to be improving?

I was only going to buy what I’d had before as they did the job .

I also know what it's like and hope you soon feel better.pneumonia really saps your energy.Give it a bit of time and hopefully you may feel better.I have been where users are and I traded the internet for antibiotics but it's not always easy to get the right ones on there.Try gp againain before you do that but I can understand how you feel.Love Sandyb x

You’re telling me it does . I know it’s not always the best to buy antibiotics yourself but my practice is reluctant to give them out - half the reason why I ended up this way in the first place . I really don’t want to go back to the GP now as I feel like a nuisance xx

I think 2 Months probably is a bit soon to expect to feel completely well. Take it easy I'd say. N as Sandy said go back to GP. Maybe buy some Tonic with Multivitamins. I think by Summer you will be feeling much better. We,ve had a lousy, long, Winter and the air is so heavy. My breathings been so laboured. If i just pop around to the Shops its such hard work i have to have a lie down after. N this can't help someone recovering from Pnuemonia. Don't expect. To much of yourself. Google luck with it. 😊🌻D.

Maybe I’m expecting too much then .

I do try and take it easy but I’ve got a physical job and I normally work full time so can’t be on the sick as £400 a month just doesn’t cut it ! I’m working 30 hrs a week and not doing much else . I’m also taking everything I can shove down my neck too . It’s so frustrating! The winter has been horrible I agree and this week really got me lungs wise and I can definitely understand having a lie down when needed as I’ve been doing the same !

A lot of folks on here are having similar hard times x

Yes, your right they are. And sort of glad my working years are behind me. 30 Hours us plenty n your right to relax the rest of the time. I have COPD as well as Chronic asthma and lung damage, so mine won't get better. But still, people have worse. Hopefully yours will get better. I wish you well. 😊
