Following my recent post on doxycycline and thank you for all the replies - unfortunately now I have another worry!
A few days after having the vaccine I started a course of antibiotics (13 days doxycycline). Will the antibiotics reduce the protection being given by the vaccine?
Do antibiotics reduce the immune system which in turn would make the vaccine less effective?
Grateful for any information please.

What was the answer? I would be very interested to know as I am likely to go on a long course of antibiotics at the same time I receive the jab (if the deadlines are actually adhered to, of course!).
Hi there. Interesting question. I too take doxycycline. Can you share the responses you received from the BLF and from your pharmacy ? Lots of people would find that helpful. Cheers xx
Hi, The BLF, my GP and the pharmacist all agree that antibiotics treat bacteria and Covid-19 is a virus. Therefore the vaccine works in a different way to antibiotics. Hope this helps?
