Although this does not affect UK residents. If true then globally this is really bad news, millions of Sinovac vaccine doses have been distributed, mainly to third world countries.

Indonesia suffers as Chinese Vaccines fail
Was this the same one used in Chile?
That’s terrible. Really sad. Xx
This is really bad news, potentially.
This is absolutely shocking! How did this vaccine get passed?
Sad times. X
Clearly they must use something else in China!
Reports from China have to be approved and censored by their government first. Sinovac is not the only vaccine in use inside China. Below is the list of those in use:
Sinopharm (Beijing.) Sinopharm’s Beijing Institute of Biological Products.
CoronaVac. Sinovac Biotech.
Sinopharm (Wuhan). Sinopharm’s Wuhan Institute of Biological Products.
Convidecia. CanSino Biologics; Academy of Military Medical Sciences.
Anhui Zhifei. Anhui Zhifei Longcom; Chinese Academy of Sciences.
That's really sad to hear. X
Let us know if this is confirmed. It could be the delta variant infecting those that haven't had the 2 doses and the extra time for max possible immunity.
The efficacy against the Delta variant is unknown but it does appear to be on the low side for the P.1 and P.2 variants even with the 2 doses. So 20 vaccinated doctors dying from Covid is a possibility.
"Does it work against new variants of SARS-CoV-2 virus?
In an observational study, the estimated effectiveness of Sinovac-CoronaVac in health workers in Manaus, Brazil, where P.1 accounted for 75% of SARS-CoV-2 samples was 49.6% against symptomatic infection (4). Effectiveness has also been shown in an observational study in Sao Paulo in the presence of P1 circulation (83% of samples).
Assessments in settings where the P.2 Variant of Concern was widely circulating – also in Brazil - estimated vaccine effectiveness of 49.6% following at least one dose and demonstrated 50.7% two weeks after the second dose. As new data becomes available, WHO will update recommendations accordingly.
SAGE currently recommends using this vaccine, according to the WHO Prioritization Roadmap."
