I have a constant tickle back if my throat and then I have chough through the night and then I wake up gasping for air , it's frightening Through the day I'm choughing but don't always have this throat trickle but my throat does feel hairy and irritated if this makes sense?

Anyone else got this ?

Ohhhh yes! I have been trying trelegy for the first time, 2 weeks later thought it may take a bit longer to start so I thought I would persevere. 5 viruses later I think it has worked as I would be a lot worse on my old medication 🤣🤣. But Sunday had chills in my back and then the cough started, I have never brought up so much crap in all my life and now its a tickle aswell. I coughed so much in the bathroom last night, thought I'd finished but when I tried breathing in I couldn't as I had more there. Like you said so frightening at the time, but I have learnt take a second or your going to panic, then cough again. Sorry for the long post, but the body is a marvellous thing even when you think it's your worst enemy. It will ease eventually but it's how you cope at the time. Please don't panic like I used to and let us know how you get on. Your pharmacist is your best friend at times like this. Good luck chook but you shouldn't need it 😉

Thanks for the comforting reply, yes panic sets in and and it makes it much worser. Im thinking of booking private to see a consultant and getting to the bottom of this, do you have a heavy chest with like pressure upon breathing ? I also have been having a higher than normal rate, I am in the middle of seeing a cardiologist for that and will have an ultrasound on the heart end of the week.I'm thinking it might be acid reflux? What's your thoughts?

Not sure about acid reflux as I don't suffer from that (yet)🤣🤣give it time. Do what you think you need to but please try not to overthink it. Like you said go and see who you have to and just take one day at a time. To be honest with you that's all we can do. Let me know how you get on chook. I wish you all the best 👍

I have regular issues with my nose and copd. Best solution I've found so far is eucalyptus. The oil in a diffuser or rubbed on my back helps alot with inflammation. Regularly blowing my nose helps to. A tickle usually indicates irritation from nasal drainage. Definitely talk with your doc, and see about allergens to.

I hope you get to the bottom of this soon. I should ask your pharmacist to suggest something to sooth your throat. xxx

hi, I’ve got the nighttime throat and cough - I think it might be a nasal drip. My GP has referred me to ENT - no appointment yet! GP thinks I need some nose surgery. I’ve also got terrible acid reflux - duty doctor has doubled my Lazaprol to 2 tablets a day but it’s not working. I also have IBS which makes it all a bit more complicated. Hope this is helpful. I wondered if the painkillers I’m taking for rheumatoid arthritis were the problem so I’m now taking them with 2 spoonfuls of kefir yoghurt to try to line my stomach. Hope this is helpful - this is my first ever post!

Try Peptac (liquid) for your Acid reflux .. It’s better for me than Gaviscon Advance and so much cheaper .

Game changer for me. Soothes acid reflux straight away .( But not to take it at same time as Lanzoprazole)

I have IBS ( high five to that one) the chough is exhausting isn't it I'm sorry to read your going through this, yes post nasal drip also can be nightmare

I hope you get your appointment soon, I was thinking of booking to see a lung specialist and seeing what he suggested I'm sure he would be able to point me in the right direction?

If it was acid reflux he would suggest who to see next I'm guessing ? I'm taking ompeazole at the moment only started them last Thursday but haven't helped yet unfortunately.

How long have you been choughing like this for?

Thank you for the reply I hope your better today with it

Don't know if this is helpful Amyamy, but I sometimes get a persistent dry tickle in my throat, which is particularly horrible if you are trying to sleep or if you are in company and can't stop coughing. I always keep 'broncho stop' tablets with me in my handbag and on my bedside table. I usually works for me. x

Have u had a virus? How longs it been happening? I find gargling, just with water or what drinks too hand, helps,as far back as u can.also tspn clear honey coats the throat+ is soothing.also look on Aluk website, contains lot of helpful info.my go to iis " controlled breathing techniques- pursed lips breathing ".practise it so u get used to using it when struggling - sit on edge of bed & just focus on that breathing ,it should help

Thank you for the advise , very helpful I do sip water and I'm taking ompeazole since last Thursday with no help so far

I had COVID for the very first time in September but I was absolutely fine after it

It made my lre existing condition worser , but it didn't effect me in a sense of a bad chough or chest wise , but now I seem to have this very bad chough all day tay definitely seems to be all in my throat like it feels hairy almost and irritated and then night time when sleeping it constantly wakes me up with a tickle sensation and then the choughing starts, it's exhausting all the time

I'm thinking of booking in with a lung specialist to be checked over and I'm hoping whatever he believes it to be in would be able to suggest what other consultant to see if it wasn't lung related ?

Take care of you , I hope you are doing okay

My own GP isn't very good. I have private health insurance so thinking of going to see a respiratory consultant and hoping they point me in the direction and give that ease of mind, I'm not in an inhaler no. Thanks for the reply, it's nice to connect with people who understand. How long have you had the chough for? And what tests have you etc.. if you don't mind me asking about your health that is

I take metoprolol and atorvastatin. I’ve had a cough for 3 years. A couple of CT scans later I’m still sucking on cough drops. A pill I get OTC with Tylenol in it meant to ease inflammation and sinus problems makes it go away for 8 - 10 hours. A couple of times in the past 3 years it went away on its own for a few days. It’s worsened by reclining or laying down particularly on my right side. Of course it often comes with shortness of breath. I’m 74. AFIB. Had Thyroid removed due to cyst on Thyroid and that is when they first diagnosed AFIB prior to that surgery. Sitting by the pool right now and was coughing as soon as I got up this morning. Took 2 of the Tylenol sinus pills and within 15 minutes the cough vanished. I think it’s the Statin or the Metoprolol causing the cough. Both are known causes of coughs and shortness of breath as side effect.
