I had a call from the rheumatology doctor I saw in ACU to say the results of the biopsy have shown that it is negative for Giant Cell Arteritis, he said I would need to go back to my gp and be referred back to neurology. I told him I was surprised as I had felt alot better on the steroids and had hardly any ear/eye pain since starting them, he said the antivirals he put me on was the reason for this and thinks I could have had a reaction from the shingles vaccine hence the stippling in my ear, again I will need to speak with my gp re this. I really don't think my problems are Trigeminal Neuralgia and not sure what path I need to follow now. I don't have any faith in the neurologist I saw and the biggest problem is everything takes so long to get sorted . My gp is very good but only works 2 days a week and getting an appointment usually takes around 3 weeks, I would like to say a big thank you to all who have replied and been so supportive, you are a great bunch of people x

Onwards and upwards Irene. So pleased you are doing better and don’t have GCA. Bit of a pain about having to go back to the neurologist especially as you’re feeling a bit better. See how things go and sending positivity and hugs xxx🤗❤️🤗❤️
Great news. GCA is a horrible condition . Steroids and antivirals work very well for the symptoms you have suffered. Fingers crossed you continue to improve. I know the Shingles vaccine is a tough one. Take care. xx
I hope u continue to improve and that neuro can help xxx
I'm glad you're feeling better and that one nasty condition is ruled out. I think I'd rather talk to your nice GP rather than an unsympathetic neurologist. Hope the good progress continues and makes that unnecessary. xxx
Thank you Alberta, yes will see if I can get to see my normal gp x
Good idea speak to your normal GP. My Rheumy said vaccines can sometimes trigger our AI conditions and flare virus issues. I was misdiagnosed with TMJ which lead to wrong access of meds. Not helpful at the time. Good luck. xx
I think taking the wrong meds causes all sorts of problems, its so important to get the correct diagnosis, hope you are OK now x
Yes I am much better thank you. I has been a very long journey. It is not just the physical symptoms but the "not knowing" what is wrong that also takes its toll. Steroids are great for getting inflammation down and used in so many circumstances but nothing beats knowing what you are treating. xx
so pleased for you that you don’t have GCA. I hope you get some explanations soon.
So pleased to hear it’s not GCA but then you are left wondering what it actually is. I hope your GP can help in getting a proper diagnosis. So frustrating.
Good to know you are feeling better.xx
So glad for you don't have GCA - You can now look forward. x
