Arrrgh she needs to check out meds before saying such things. Reminds me of the one who told me its impossible for inhalers to cause thinning of the skin and had never heard of the BLF .

I hope you're recovering whit.

I’ve been told that before too! There are some really great nurses around… and some really poor ones

Ignorant woman! It’s a well known hazard with cipro. I had achilles problems about age 50, so it’s not just the elderly either. Cipro is a very effective antibiotic but you have to be very careful with it. Don’t take it again, or anything in that group ending “floxacin”.

I suffer from a lot of chest infections and my go to antibiotic is also Criprofloxcin,My respiratory consultant had warned me about the effects it could have on my tendons,My back of my legs are now hurting from the ankle upwards so it's 100% true it's a side effect

I am from Australia and Cipro is not banned here. I get reoccurring lung exacerbations and Cipro is the go to antibiotic for me. I am 73 and have had no issues.

It’s not banned here either, Gibby. I think Whit means it’s banned for him. It’s an incredibly useful antibiotic, IF you can tolerate it. Just be aware of the possibility of tendinitis and stop taking it immediately if you get any pain. I wish I could take it because it’s the only oral antibiotic which is effective against pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Hi whit, you are quite right. I am allergic to this AB because of the tendon problems etc. Some of these nurses don't know what they are talking about. Take care, Maximonkey

It makes you despair when medical staff don't know what they're talking about, and are so inflexible that they are not prepared to listen and learn.
