Sorry to hear you’re back in hospital Sara and hope the doctors can help you. The dizzy spells are concerning and of course the panic attacks. Please let us know how things go.
I was hoping to go,,5 months like the time before the other time I was admitted but no such luck
I'm still in a transit ward & I hate it because I was told I was going in the transit ward where patients get a room to themselves whereas in this one I'm sharing with a whole load of other patients. Of course I'm very grateful to be waiting about 20 mins when others have to wait hours. If you tell them you've got a condition that warrants
being expressed through ( like me on oxygen) they let me go first while I wait for a bed in their majors room for a ward bed
Take a look at aluk website for advice on coping with panic attacks.controlled breathing with pursed lips technique will help.use it whn sat relaxed, practise a lot, deep+ slow as u can then u get used to using it b4 standing, walking etc
Panic attacks are horrid , white knuckle waves of fear when I lose my breath.
I have tried breathing techniques , pursed lip breathing …letting the panic wash over me …..that’s easier said than done , OK for someone who hasn’t got dodgy lungs like me .
I have seen on you tube Havening technique which involves stroking the arms firmly , but again you have to wait until severe breathless goes . I try one arm at a time as less strenuous.
Also Five finger breathing exercise . Stroking the edges of the fingers .
Trying to control the panicky breathing ….slow , gentle nose breaths .
I had a 4 .30 trip to A and E today , but let out this time .
A doctor who came to see me earlier who knows me & my mum & we talked about other stuff & then talked about the panic attacks & she said she wants to give me some small tablet to help control my anxiety,& some oremorph & I asked her whether they can be taken together or either one or the other it's up to me. Mum was present so I'm going to ask her so I'm clear The doc said if the blood results ( I had done yesterday)don't show any sign of infection then she can make a decision whether to let me go home, but don't know when that will be
Im still in hospital but sent to another transition ward - i like this ward as they are side rooms & room to myself.Just waiting for a bed to respiratory ward. I dont want to go to respiratory now im happy in my own room lol
Thanks. I've moved AGAIN to an assessment ward but today I've been moved to the basic respiratory ward as I call it,instead of the pods I prefer & requested to make it bearable- I'm grateful for a bed at all to be fair. I've had plenty of morphine to help me through the panics & it helps. Downside is- it bungs you up toiletry speaking so constipated now,so I'm also on moviecol to help me go in the other direction to put it nicely
Theyre ok It might be obvious to other people but not to me. Can someone clarify why members of staff referred to as nurses or staff nurses cannof answer a simple medical question a patient puts to them. I dont know what colour the uniforms ars & their representations in other hospitals, put the one im in the nurses are in pale blue & staff nurses/ wear dark blue outfit ( im not sure about the dark blue bit so please feel free to correct me).Anyway they cant either. I m suffering with bunged up - ie cant do the no 2 & having trouble doing the no 1.( peeing)& because of the panic attacks im given morphine & Lorazipan . Im now having to take movicol to try to help me get it all out. I asked if it was morphine was the medicine that is " bunging " me up & she didnt know?
I wouldve thought that if the nurses are giving the medicine they would be able to answer questions ) simple ones wouldnt you?
If ive got that wrong then i apologise of course,,& happy to be corrected
