long waited visit to opd

I have atypical bronchiectasis andlungs damaged by " PE, ,and industrial asthma -- used to work with fungal and tb c ultures. Aspergilus through a plate microscope is beautiful ! i I used to go to chester opd but transferred to wythenshawe Northen Lung Centre a few years ago . l At last years appointment my consultant had left and tests done had not been put on internet ,so not found . still awaiting new appointment there.

i have developed a problem with my ear and been referred to chester for that . so have two single page letters, two departments . they had been put together in one file . that was a mistake. .

was messaged over internet repeatedly . one wouldnt download and one welcomed me . I had a n appointment at chester opd ! it was going ahead .

I thought it was about my ear, and was a bit puzzled to be welcomed by the resp team. Quickly realigned my brain from ear to lungs. but why was I there at chester and not at Whythenshawe ? and what about my ear ?

the consultant at chester had moved on and i Iwent through a very thorough history from the new one going back to 19 70 s something when i had a lung abcess caused by dust from demolition building work alongside the lab there at chester where I worked . (had forgotten about that ) . any way lots of new tests and ct scans planned and echocardiogram now in the plans .

this was done at whythenshawe but never got put on the new record system there . All before covid so have lost some years .This consultant seems very good and the previous one at chester was lacking in patience and couldnt sit still. He couldnt sit down and I had lost belief in him ,. this new man listened to my l ungsand looked at my ankles and my nails. can someone tell me about my nails. ?

So new man in charge who impressed me.. now waiting to go b ack in 3 months time ! will see

.Back home phone about the ear appointment that I was expecting. To be told there is a 12 Month waiting list at present . Its not going to get any better Is it ?

Gd to hear you've been seen and they sound v thorough.id mention Yr ear to him -perhaps he will shine a light and take a q look..no harm in asking lol.Yr nails can show a lot about our health. Nail clubbing is common in some heart +)ung disease x

What a lot of messing about for you Jaybird, lets hope this new consultant can help you. Write down any questions like your nails for the next appointment. Funny I asked my gp to refer me to a bronch specialist at Wythenshawe and it finally came through last Monday, a bit of a trek getting there and am hoping I can get better care . Both the ent doctor and respiratory consultant at MRI discharged saying there was nothing more they could do for me, which means treating myself and left with no care. Luckily I have mild bronch but feel it is getting worse so pleased that I have taken this step to help mysel, although it doesnt sound promising after reading the problems you have had there. Good luck with it all and hope Chester will be better for you x

What a confusing mess, Jaybird. Just glad your present consultant sounds on the ball.

Spoon-shaped and clubbed nails tell the doctor more information about low blood oxygen levels over time.
