Nacsys
It's purpose is to water down the mucus so that it is easier to expel. I haven't tried it because I don't need it but I think that people will be along who find that it is useful.
I have been taking Nacsys for about 3 or 4 months now and it really does help with bringing up mucus. Nacsys has been difficult for my pharmacist to get, so I had a alternative called Acepiro which is the same drug (Acetylcysteine). However when I picked up my prescription this month they have supplied Nacsys.
It is taken by many forum members.im on prescription carbocysteine which is in capsule form.its very effective in thinning mucous, which makes it a bit easier to get up.id give it a try x
If you write Nacsys or N-Acetyl Cysteine in the search bar you find lots of member rate it highly. I'm prescribed Carbocysteine however I've been given it in both Croatia and France when I've run out of carbo. Sometimes it's effervescent which is handy.
Recently I had a bad infection so bought the Nacsys from the health food shop to supplement the carbo.
I find it really useful as opposed to carbocysteine for loosening the mucus in one daily dose without any tiredness that comes when the mucus rebuilds although I do use an acapella device after to make sure all is clear from my lungs
I struggle terribly with getting mucus up even with meditation but the other night I watched something and it mentioned a position to lay in which was uncomfortable for me as I have spinal issues but I managed for an hour on my front and the next day I brought a lot of mucus up which my consultant will be pleased about because he’s been waiting months for a sample. Hope it helps

I had a telephone appointment with my consultant 2 weeks ago and he said that they found the results were better for patients with NACSYS than carbocysteine. I had been transferred back onto carbo by the practice pharmacist as last year there were supply issues with NACSYS. The pharmacist had told me that both drugs worked the same way. The consultant has now written to my GP to get me transferred onto Acetyl Cysteine as it is the same as NACSYS. I have moderate COPD with mild Asthma.
