Yendo’s history with lung problems.

Diagnosed with asthma in 1972 and started on Ventolin. In 1987 I was rushed to hospital after suffering a severe asthma attack caused after taking two aspirin pills. Previously, I had been taking aspirin for years with no adverse reactions, but I was told that allergies can begin at any time of life. After the severe attack I was put in the care of a lung specialist. She gave me various inhalers over the ensuing months and I finally settled on Advair which seemed to work better for me. I had no further asthma attacks as I continued using Advair, but in 2004 I was diagnosed with COPD. My symptoms were very mild at that time and I was able to carry on with life with no problems. I was quite active. I have always enjoyed walking and I still do a 2 mile walk every day. My symptoms have progressed however. My last spirometry test done 2 years ago showed that my lung function at 58% of normal, which I think means I am still considered moderate but approaching 50% which is considered severe. In the past 12 months I have been helped by a pulmonary educator who recommended to my GP that I should switch to Breo Ellipta from Advair which I have done and found it beneficial. Recently, he suggested to my GP that I should also use Incruse Ellipta in combination with Breo Ellipta. I have just started this regimen in the past two weeks, so have not yet decided whether it is beneficial or not.

Hi and welcome Yendo. It sounds like you have been given good advice and treatment. I hope that you find the addition of Ellipta beneficial. It amazes me how different we all are and respond in different ways to different medications. I think that you are in good hands.

Don’t think I cam help you. I have taken Ventolin for many years. Within the last year I was put on to salumol which is like Ventolin which is aTrade name for salbutamol. I don’t think it worked as well for me as Ventolin so asked to be changed back to Ventolin which my doctor agreed to. Everyone says it’s the same drug but I think Ventolin delivers it better. I too have copd &bronchiectases as well but it sounds like you overall are

worse than me. Best of luck & hope you feel better soon.

Hi. I've been told to take both aswell. I'm about to start it. Do you take the incruse right away after breo and gargle after? Or you do each on separate time of the day? Tia

Hi okGrapefruit, I take the Incruse first followed by the Breo. According to the Incruse information sheet you should wait at least one minute before using another puffer. After taking both puffers I then gargle. I use a glass of water with one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. It works very well for me, I haven’t had thrush for many years since gargling with water and apple cider vinegar. Good luck to you.

Thank you!! Do you think there'd be any difference if i take breo first then incruse? Thry only told me to do breo in the morning and no specific time for the other. Goodluck to you too

No! There would be no difference at all, it’s just personal preference which puffer to use first. I haven’t been taking this combination very long but I think my breathing has improved from when I was taking Breo alone.
