IMPROVEMENT!

After nearly two years of waiting, I finally got to see a consultant! He gave me various tests and blood tests and came to the conclusion that it's not my bronchiectasis that's the problem, it's my asthma. I'm now taking a Seretide 250 inhaler and feeling a whole lot better. Although still not brilliant, I can see the improvement on my daily peak flow readings. The physios at my pulmonary rehab course are putting me on more advanced exercises as they feel I'm not being challenged enough. But the best thing is I've been able to chase my dog along the beach for the first time in months and not be gasping for breath. Only time will tell if this improvement lasts. But I'm trying to make the most of it. Have a great Christmas everybody and best wishes for 2024. 😁

Fantastic, at last! Just keep the lungs clear of gunk, avoid bugs and look after yourself πŸ˜ƒ

That's the weird thing. There hasn't been any gunk for weeks now. But I keep expecting it all to come back.

That sounds like such good news and to get back one of life’s pleasures of chasing your dog around is just fantastic, my dog is mad as a hatter and loves it when I run around with her she thinks it’s the best game ever! Enjoy!

Seretide contains a steroid. I was on this inhaler for a number of years, and I think may have been responsible for my skin thinning. The slightest bang on anything with my arms or legs, caused a three corner tear in my skin. Then a good few weeks of visits to the surgery nurse to get the wound dressed. All I am saying is, take care.

I've been warned about that. I've also had a bone density scan after taking so many steroids in tablet form. There seems to be a cost for any cure unfortunately.

I used to love walking with my dogs never mind running, you’re doing great. Keep doing what you’re doing and be careful of the nasty cold bugs going around but fresh sea air is the best.

Take care
