Age piles the years on one by one

Yet we try to do as we've always done

The body gets weak but the mind stays strong

Maybe that's where we all went wrong

We should perhaps throw caution out

And rid ourselves of those fears and doubt

Unshield ourselves and put it about

Get really drunk and rage and shout

But, alas, that's not our way

Perhaps we will another day

As I wait for my favorite meal to cook

I'll just sit here and read my book

Nice poem Don. I had much fun in my youth and drank plenty at Uni, enough for a lifetime. I still miss those days but I am certain things would end badly if I tried similar antics today. I am just going to make a hot chocolate before bed :)💓Hope you are well🥂 xxx

thank you Don, that made me smile 😀

loved it Donald!! You have a way of making us all smile. My husband liked it too and said when you’re old people expect you to act a certain way but now we don’t have the energy gif shenanigans Lol

Just lucky I guess. I lost my good friend Puss unexpectedly, who used to keep my spirits up, only to be adopted by Smudge my new best friend who had become homeless. She deserves a younger owner than me but I don’t think she will have much trouble finding another sucker if necessary.

Smudge on display mode.

Safer to sit and read your book Don than throw it all about, hope you and the cat are both well x

lovely , and very correct. I don’t think we’d have the energy or breath to shout anyway if we wanted to but you are right, it’s not our way so I just carry on playing solitaire.

Take care

Love it Don! I couldn’t go wild even if I had the energy. My cats are still in recovery from when I had a go at one of those dance fitness videos years ago and start looking nervous whenever I put music on🙀 Mind you, I’ve never been the same since either😀

I hope you and Smudge are well x

🤣. Brilliant poem Don and good to hear from you 😊👍. I haven't had any alcohol since my early 30's (about 40 years ago) often tempted to have one but don't know how my body would react after all this time so best stick to the cuppa tea!! Love to Smudge & take care ❤️xxx

Love the photo of Smudge and the poem! Raging wastes waaayyy too much energy that could be used for having fun instead, or eating a fine meal!😊

smudge name really suits him Don. He’s absolutely gorgeous. With that look on his face he is saying ‘come on give me a cuddle’

I did think myself that Smudge sounded male a name, but no she is very much a she. She doesn't much like being handled and I've only recently been allowed to rub her tummy. I got nipped once or twice at first when she thought I was being over familiar. Reminded me of my youth. 😉

Hahaha. I've been "nipped" a few times too ;) 💗

Books are the best!

They definitely are, real books for all sorts of reasons. But when you get really old and your eye's are not so good and arthritis affects your hands and arms, iPad sometimes have to do.
