First time I have really done a landscape. I have done sunsets with less detail. Not sure about this one..

Peaceful Sunset.
l really love the colours Ern and think it’s a beautiful picture. Xxx😘
Thank you Carole - I have painted tree's before but not fir trees. It was a change and fun to do . xx
Hello Carole, Just a little message to say as I am going on holiday next week, I wish you much happiness & every success in your forthcoming treatment at the end of August & hoping all will go well for you.. You will be in my thoughts & prayers...With much love to you & Pete.. Primrose 123..xx
I like it, simple and yet with a lot of detail.
I don't know much about art, as they say, but I like the rainbow colours in the sky and I love that big bold fir tree right in the middle. xxx
Looks good to me Ern007. As you say more detail which takes more time and patience. Hope your doing ok and have a wonderful day. Brian
Love it Ern! It has a very serene quality to it.
Thank you TC - Whatever I paint I look for peace. Landscape in this form was a new challenge .
The peaceful quality shows, Ern. I like the detail you’ve put in, too. I paint photorealistic animal portraits, so I’m a bit of a detail enthusiast 😀
I think without detail inn a picture like a seascape, or on rare occasions landscapes, need detail or the painting would be flat. Not long ago I posted a painting of a space landscape. Purple mountains dominated the rest, Had I not added 4 white posts staggered - The painting would have remained 2D.
" photorealistic animal portraits" Well done to be able to do that. I have a friend who lives a few doors from me who now in her 80s paints occasional realistic flowers and birds like blue tits and green finches ect . She paints in watercolor, like I did many years ago -
I can draw a face or a flower, but not as " photorealistic animal portraits," I think diversity in art is good, keeps it vibrant,
You are right about adding detail to give depth.. I’ve just gone back to look at your space painting (sorry, I tend to pop in and out of the forum spasmodically, depending on what is happening here and missed it previously) I quite agree about the addition of the while posts in that painting and the illusion of depth they give.
I’ve not yet tried birds I must say but will do so at some point. I’m a big fan of owls particularly, as they have such fantastic eyes. I work in pastels with a fine-toothed paper capable of allowing detail. I’ve taken the liberty of attaching a picture showing the sort of stuff I do, hope you don’t mind. You are quite right, diversity in art, as in life, is a very good thing😀
I don't mind at all - It shows a lot of talent. So realistic.
I started painting a long time ago with watercolor - My best painting was a tiger. but I did not paint washes. I used poster paints also.
I stopped painting for work reasons, my hours used to be horrific. Strange it was pastels that got me back paining some 5 years ago - taking a donation to charity shop. Anne spotted a pack of pastels - She bought them for me. I thing they where oil pastels as they was difficult to apply no matter the bug was back on Amazon bought easel paper pallets, paints and away I went.
Hi Ern, yes it's lovely. My eye was drawn to the trees and sky initially then to the little flowers in the foreground. Has the ahhh factor and made me smile. Thank you for sharing😊xxx
Thank you Nula2 - Interesting reply. Normally there will be a feature that would try and draw eyes to - In this case for me it was the sky - This was the first time I had done Fir trees, but needed trees for depth. "The little flowers" the times I have done that, seem to be drawn to flowers of some description. You are very welcome,I love sharing to you guys. x
Yes you get a great variety of replies ranging from the people who understand about the techniques of painting and drawing to people like me who just enjoy and get pleasure from your skills 😊xxx
