A simple painting tonight. A sunset from my mind, I have painted what I can see, I broke the rules as I did not want a total purple sea.

I just woke up and went on the site to see this 'vision,' of yours! It is a most striking image Ern. What a choice of colour for the sky and I love the way it is kind of laid on diagonally. So the foreground is the sea is it? I thought it was a desert! The whole picture could be the front of a dessert menu at the Savoy Hotel, London. The more abstract your pictures, the more I love them. Bravo.

Thank you Greenthorn. It is a sea but could be open to Interpretation as there is no coast.

The diagonal effect in the sky helped me choose the base colour, like the freedom of this type of art.

The sky reflection in the sea is perfect. What vibrant colours and gorgeous waving palm trees. That's a very relaxing painting Ern. The best things come from our imagination. Thanks so much for brightening yet another soggy day here in Birmingham!!

Ern, may I ask who your favourite artists are? (I have a master's degree in art history, art is my absolute passion in life, and I'm delighted every time you post a new picture! xx)

This is so hard. I have to give Dutch Artist 'Johannes Vermeer' a thumbs up for his paining 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' IMO better than the Mona Lisa. 'Van Gogh' I liked him ever since I followed a BBC series on him years ago, I don't like all his work, but what I do like sticks.

French artist "Claude Monet" I think I liked even more than 'Van Gough' Can't say I am a fan of 'Michelangelo' but he really was a master .

I have to mention Surreal Spanish painter 'Salvador Dalí' - Not all his work but some impresses.

I have been to the 'Pablo Picasso' is Malaga - I as impressed, but just for the moment.

I have not yet mentioned a UK Artist.

Scottish Artist 'Steven Brown.' Gosh can he used colour. He also is alive and going strong.

This is by no means complete and just to give you an idea.

Thank you, Ern! I agree regarding Vermeer v Leonardo, I've seen the Mona Lisa in real life and I have to say I was underwhelmed.

Picasso was, IMO, a genius, but I can't say I really warm to his work on the whole.

I had to google Steven Brown. Honestly I prefer your work to his!!!

Thank you Threecats - It's a bit abstract but that's what it took to get the effect I wanted and what my youngest daughter wanted.
