interesting post from Bubba on the parmisist and reviews. A doctor normally did my annual review then it all began to change when the asthma nurse started to do it, then a pharmacist did it over the phone this year the blood lady did it when I visited the surgery for a blood test. Next year I’m fully expecting the contract cleaner at the surgery to do it….over the phone of course….and why not.

The nurse introduced herself. "I'm a midwife. I don't really know what I'm doing today."

Ha, since 2019 I've had two reviews and they were an online form. The last one in February this year I'd been very poorly with a virus, fever for ages , took ventolin 10 times a day as well as for 3 weeks using my prophylactic antibiotics for the defininite chest infection. No-one can have read it as I didn't get a call back to check I'd survived. It had been impossible to get an answer to calling gp practice

Yes my person to person one was before covid - since then it's simply been an online questionnaire.

I have never had a "review". Is that maybe because I have been seen by a doctor or hospital more than yearly? Or have I been seen by a doctor or hospital more than yearly because I have not had a review? I didn't know about reviews then. I actually asked one GP why my COPD was deteriorating so fast, if she had looked into it instead of shrugging, would she have found that I am a retainer and was being slowly poisoned by my own body? Sorry I digress! xx

Nice one 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣we'll said. It's ridiculous these days. It's like when you have to ring the surgery at 8am to try and get seen that day, the receptionist starts off (well is it urgent) no, just thought you might want a chat or something 🙈🙈🙈🙈

I saw a specialist nurse practitioner in April after annual blood tests and was surprised how much she did know. She also runs a weekly respiratory clinic which my surgery had never advertised but sadly all the places are full. Prior to that it had been phone consultations unless I actually turned up gasping at A&E.

Such easy money for a phone call, especially as two reviews in one phone call if there is an asthma element to copd!!!

It’s no laughing matter though is it ? There are two issues here it seems.

1) Annual reviews carried out ( or not ) face to face.

2) The skills and competencies of the practice who is asked to complete the review.

Can I suggest if these reviews are not in place as they used to be, then we call it in. Otherwise it will never change.

I went for a blood test and I said I must book for a review. She said I’m doing the review. I couldn’t believe it. What about checking if your medication is still ok. No blood pressure test nothing. My blood pressure is up really high then goes down quite low. They just don’t care any more.
