Nothing to do with my health...but ready to blow a gasket!!

Got home today, to find letter from a debt collector threatening court action against a non payment of parking fine. Well I am hopping mad!!! visited my local hospital on a sunday in Jan 2016, it was an emergency and I did not have any cash on me, and tried to pay fee £2.15 with my card, which for some reason was declined at the machine. When I got home, I phoned the number on the machine to pay over the phone, only to be told by the rude woman on the end of the phone, that she could not take a payment over the phone and that I would have to send them a cheque??? I told her that I did not have a cheque book and she told me that I would have to go to the post office and obtain a postal order!! by which time I was getting very frustrated with her attitude, because all i wanted to do was pay the parking fee of £2.15. I explained that I have no intension of taking time out of my busy schedule to go to a post office, an pay for a postal order and postage when it was their fault their machine that was making it impossible to pay on the day. Anyway, I have had a few letters of the years asking me to pay this fine, and I chose to ignore them, but today this company is demanding £104.00 or I will have a CCJ against me. I am spitting bullets as I not longer have any evidence of phone records and parking notice to prove my case, so will have to pay up. Not a happy bunny........moan over xx On a good note the sun is coming out to play very soon yay x

That really sucks. No wonder you’re mad. It’s so infuriating! I don’t know what a CCJ is but it’s probably nothing good, but what a lot of money they just made out of you, for wanting to pay the fee in the first place 😡

I hope the sun does shine for you to brighten your day. 🌥⛅️🌤☀️

Check this out, there may be a link with more useful advice but by the time you have waded through it all, appealed or just ignored them for the sake of sanity you might be tempted to pay the bill.being only small and having a sort of Jack Russell mentality i would be inclined to fight it but it all depends how much time you have to waste on the project. :)

If it was a private car park like a supermarket just ignore it. You have no contract with them. IF it was a council car park fight it is easy to do, just write a letter explaining what happened. Wish you luck whatever you decide.

I understand why you are so angry at this! After all, it was not your fault. However, I think I would just pay up at this stage, especially with no proof on your side. You don't want to have to pay court costs as well, and I think that might happen if they rule against you. Or I may be talking complete rubbish, of course. It seems totally unfair! xx Moy

Thank you for your reply. If I still had my evidence I would fight it, but now can't be bothered x

Hi I agree as this is totally wrong in every way. I would be inclined to just pay the money even though it is wrong just to avoid more stress. x

Hmm, if you can remember what time you went to hospital you should be able to get an approximate time of your phone call to these leeches chasing you, as most companies have that statement saying calls 'are recorded and monitored' huh, did you get the ladies name? And perhaps the hospital security may be able to state that the machine was not working, there's far too many of these rip off companies hammering the innocent public, if ever I got a'ticket ' I'd get a styhl saw and cut it down, I watched a documentary last year about a young man just starting out in life, (working) and poor health, a simple ticket had amassed into a huge debt, he went and hung himself, I was crying, my friend committed suicide through hanging and I had the unpleasant task of cutting him from the ceiling, I was a wreck after that, these companies are vile, and preying upon those visiting hospitals is outrageous, whilst the ceo is collecting thousands a year, so, so wrong, the family couldn't even afford his funeral, so you are right to have a rant, RIP, Jerome Rogers.

Skatergirl1 in reply toCb1963

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately this was 3 and a half years ag, at the time, I did take the ladies name, noted the time etc and could prove phone records, I wrote a letter to the parking company stating all the facts, pointing out it was their fault and not mine, etc told them to look at the cctv which will show that i went to the ticket machine and tried to use my card etc, and told them that i would no longer communicate with them because i had spent more than the parking charge of £2.15 in making phone calls and my time to try to resolve this. They didn't acknowledge my letter and sent more letters for about a year which I ignored and all went quiet, so i just thought they had gone away. I eventually threw out my evidence when having a clear out, and have since updated my computer so longer have a copy of the letter to them. If I had kept it all I would be prepared to go to court to defend myself. But hey ho `i will just have to pay these robbing *******ds and put it down to experience. Just annoyed that these debt collectors can buy this from companies and harass and bully people.

Skater girl, these collection guys don’t want to have to fuss with court etc. either, they will always accept a compromise offer. Try offering half

what they’re asking, I’ll bet they’ll accept it.

Skatergirl1 profile image
Skatergirl1 in reply toSnowbrd

Thank you, yes I will try that xx. I don't intend to pay until next month, but I will let you know the outcome xx

Oh dear. Pains me to say but to avoid further stress (not good for health) I would bite the bullet & pay up. About time these cowboys were sorted out methinks.

My daughter has ignored loads of these, the threat letter is standard. Get on to your local television companies, they'd love this

Try googling POPLAR and see if there’s any appeal process on the fine paperwork but it may have gone past that stage.

Dear Skatergirl1,

My advice, for what it's worth, is to Write- not Email, Phone or anything else- and explain CAREFULLY what has occurred. As I see it, the only 'thing' you are guilty of, is NOT doing anything about this earlier! Sorry but it's true.

If it had been me, I would have called the Company, requested- in the first instance, then 'demanded' to speak to a Senior Manager. I would also have found the name of the C.E.O. and addressed a Letter to Him/Her- remembering that, in LAW, if a Letter is Addressed to a 'Named' Person, they Must see it. (A good 'Trick' to know)

The fact that you have, Seemingly 'Ignored', correspondence on this issue won't unfortunately Help your Cause. However if, and it may be a BIG 'if', you can find a Sympathetic Ear within the Company, then you Might get 'somewhere'. However at this stage, I'm sorry to say, I think the 'Best' you can Hope for is a Reduction in the 'Interest' Charges.

Please DON'T think, that I'm, 'Having A Go' here but.....If you had maybe been less Self Righteous and maybe Swallowed Your Pride and SPOKEN, to Someone......You HAD a VERY Good Case, one I'm sure Someone would have Intervened, for you, on.....Back Then!

Sorry, that my words, probably haven't Helped You Skatergirl1. I send you my best wishes anyway.

Hello Andrew, thank you for your reply. You made me laugh out loud, in a good way, I know I am my own worst enemy and what you said is true!! I am stubborn and self righteous at times, and it is my own fault of not dealing with these issues earlier. I will swallow my pride, pay the bill (will try and get discount lol) and put it down to experience xx. Hope your having a nice day x
