recently been discharged from hospital after nearly a month in there I went in after Oxygen nurse came out and found my oxygen levels very low she called the ambulance .
I had a battery of tests including CT scan with dye . It was only after a Bronchoscopy that they found I had PCP( Pneumocystis pneumonia)
I couldn’t fault the care and communication from all the medical staff including the doctors and consultants .
It transpired that the drug I was using for my RA ( Benepali ) which I thought was a game changer as it stopped my aches and pain, had reduced my Immunity to nearly zero, so opened the doors to any and all infections . Benepali has now been stopped
I hope that the hospital you are in investigate this properly and you get the help you deserve regards
Thank you ive had a scan with a dye today its a strange experience i teally hope tje result ismt too bad but imprepared for thle worst Ive bern putnon the list for a tramsplsmt assesemt so it could go eiter way.
I really hope the scan shows what the problem is and they can deal with it quickly, you dont want to be in hospital longer than you have to be in this heat x
I had a blood test tofay around 5.45witj mu spevialust & she told me id get the results thebsame same day but theybnevrr materislised I waited all evening because i wanted to know if ive got a clot pn my lungs. So im quite nervous anout the result ss my specialist doesnt come back while momday now. Ive reqiestef duscharge on Monday so i can teach my class on tiesday morning but of thetes somethinh wrong i csnt
Aaaw thats a bit rotten to make you wait over the weekend. Get something to take your mind of things and try not to think about it, easier said than done I know. Maybe a good book or hobby or even a night out x
I know what it’s like having to wait over the weekend for results you always think the worst, But hang on in there and wait until you get results before making the decision to discharge yourself. You don’t want end up having to back in and all that waiting in A & E again.
Lets hope not but im concerned that the company who have cjosem me to volunteer wiyh them might tirn round & say im not committed & give my job to someone else - even if it is voluntary
One other thing that im not sure how to react is when someone gives you more food that you ask for. To be clear a guy who is of colour /or other nationalty (whatever the correct termination is) comes in & asks me what i want for breakfast - & thats fine - perfect correct english. I made it clear I only asked for TWO pieces & he gave me FOUR. I knew i was very clear in my request as a trained English teacher of students whose first language isnt English. He wouldnt take 2"pieces back (i hadnt handled it it was still on the plate. One of the HPs (healthcare professionals) asked me what i had for breakfast & I outlined that then told them what had happened
I could saddle a horse with iy Thankfully my dad came round to see me with some lovely home made tea. Spag bol.i needed it Hospial food is disgusting Only things i like are the fruitv ice cream & sponge puds
I feel for you Sara - I really do. I have lung and heart conditions but my cancer care keeps changing, changing back. It's not the hospital staff - IMO it's the MDT system. Hope you get sorted soon.
Hi Sara, I was taken into hospital as I was struggling to breath (I have Asthma) my Sats were low and I had a temperature. Bloods were taken in A & E when read and I was told I did not have an infection, but I was admitted because my SATs were low, The next morning by complete fluke the consultant doing the ward rounds knew me as I saw him every 3 months for another condition. He compared the result to a blood test that I had a few months earlier. Under normal conditions I have a very low white blood cell count it is considered just within normal range, but the blood test they did at the hospital showed my white blood cells were at the highest they could be to fall within normal range. The consultant pointed this out to his juniors and said it showed that I did have a chest infection and to treat me accordingly. Hope you feel better soon.
