What the heck is this?

community nurses were concerned my clamshell wound following transplant on March 17 was still weeping and yesterday they spotted this …..

I have sent pics to transplant team for comments but as I am having biopsy tomorrow I am sure they will sort it out.

Any thoughts??

It' may be infected that looks like pus . If it is weeping then it probably is. It should be washed gently everyday with mild soap and then leave it to dry with no top on. Please make sure they see you as soon as possible. For us it takes ages for anything to heal because of the immunosuppressants. I hope it resolves soon. xx 😊👍

The nurses clean it but then put 2 layers of “special” pads on .

In hospital tomorrow so answers expected.

I wouldn't do the pads if possible unless there is a reason you have to have them. It needs air. Wash daily and leave to dry. Wear light cotton clothes. Trapping the air in only makes the infection worse the germs will have a field day. Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and Pseudomonas are common issues with surgical wounds. Hopefully they will prescribe antibiotics. I hope you are not too uncomfortable. Take care. 💐

Obviously show hospital and good luck with your biopsy. Looks like antibiotics required but hospital will know. They could probably rush through swab results to determine if inflected and prescribe appropriate antibiotics. Good luck.

I am sure the biospy will tell them what this is and fingers crossed it can be dealt with quickly. As Caspiana says leaving it to the open air heals better and you certainly dont want any infections, let us know x
