lungwort

I was recently diagnosed with lung cancer and I’m having radiotherapy at this time.

My daughter saw a supplement called Lungwort which she thought might help me. I bought it but I’m now a bit worried about taking it in case it does me harm.

My question is - has anyone with a lung condition tried it?

Thanks for any advice on this.

Sorry for what you are going through at the moment. I was once quite rightly “told off” by my gp for not advising her about some herbal and vitamin medications I was taking. She pointed out that there could be contraindications with prescribed meds that I was unaware of. I certainly would speak to a medical practitioner before taking anything not prescribed for me. I don’t know much about lungwort and it may be you would be fine with it but I would check first. Your pharmacist may be able to advise, especially if you have one attached to gp surgery.

Thanks so much for your sensible advice. I will ask the pharmacist about this herb. They’re the most knowledgeable.

I am sorry for your situation and will pray things go well in your treatment. I agree with the others it is very important to check with those treating you as you wouldn’t want to do anything that could affect your medical treatment, or it’s effectiveness.

Wishing you well.

Thanks so much for your good wishes and you’re right - I wouldn’t want to do anything that could affect my treatment so will check with pharmacist.

Wish you well

I agree with the previous writers. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist. When it comes to many herbal supplements I’ve found the following website to be helpful. MSK is a major cancer center in the US. If there have been any clinical trials studying an herb or botanical it will be noted.

I looked at the site for this one Lungwort (Pulmonaria) and found nothing there I recommend saving the link for future reference

Hi Denzie

Thanks so much. That’s a really useful link and I’ll definitely save it for future reference. It may well be that the pharmacist won’t know anything about Lungwort either in which case I’ll leave it alone.

sorry to hear of your problem, do hope that medical people can give you very best treatment, but be careful of something they don’t approve. Best wishes for a good outcome. Jean x

Thanks Jean and I’m not going to take it unless I get prior approval x

Hi Deni hope the treatment you’re having isn’t too difficult and eliminates the dreaded C completely without further treatment. Pleas speak to your consultant before adding anything to your regime as often supplements or health remedies can interfere with cancer drugs and treatment so be good to know from them what’s good to try. Good luck hope your feeling much better soon😘

Hi Kristicats

I’m hoping the radiotherapy gets rid of the dreaded C. Yes I don’t want to do anything to jeopardise the treatment so I’ll ask either the pharmacist or lung cancer nurses about Lungwort. After seeing all the helpful responses I’m now inclined to place it in the back of the cupboard.

Sending good wishes 😘
