Hi everyone just need some reassurance !!

Hi everybody just had phone call from my lung surgeon @ St Barts London who wants me on asap to have lung volume reduction !!! I was due to go to St Barts December 10th 2021 but I cancelled due to the explosion of omicron COVID variant in London at that time 😳so I rang 2 weeks ago to rebook my appointment for spect scan and appointment with lung surgeon to discuss surgery when and where , because previously my lung surgeon had offered to come to yorkshire where I live and do the surgery here 👍🏼But now because of huge back logs at our specialist lung hospital he now wants me to go to London have the scan see him and have the surgery all in one go !!! It’s my birthday today 🎉and I’m having a melt down yet again ☹️☹️I’m so scared of this surgery but I totally know if need it 😩😭 please all those lovely people out there who’ve had this surgery I need so reassurance 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 thank you

Thank you so much for your kind words 🤗I do realize that I’m am exceedingly lucky that I am in the 1-2% group for this procedure 🙏🤞🏼It’s just such a big deal I worry I won’t come out the other side ☹️And I know this can happen during any anesthesia 😳 thanks again I really appreciate all views and comments

Wow… I can understand your concerns but to have a lung surgeon to act so quickly is wonderful. There are plenty here who have had LVR and I am sure they will reassure you.All the best x

Having been through the selection process and spoken to a thoracic surgeon i can assure you Cubangirl that if the surgeon had any doubts about your ability to survive and prosper from the procedure he wouldn't consider doing it in the first place.Sadly my lung function reserve didn't meet the criteria for the anaesthesia by the surgeon i saw so he has declined to operate.

Wishing you the best if you decide to have it done and if you do i am certain it will give you a far better quality of life in the future.

I’m puzzled by having LVR, does this actually reduce size of one or both lungs. Whatever, having surgery quickly is good, hope it goes well. xx

Yep they cut out the worst of the bad and try n leave you some good bits 😁🤪both lungs done at the same time 😳

I have had LVRS on both lungs in the space of 2 years at Barts and have never regretted the decision.The worst part for me was the removal of the chest drain. Otherwise there were no complications and the nursing care was excellent

So would strongly recommend you have it done and get the best birthday present ever
