Hi guys. Just to get you up to date. I spoke to my Dr this morning he has offered me amytriptylin for my shingles. I explained I’m supposed to have my dressing off on my leg for the carcinoma I had removed. It’s ten days today and the dresssing should be changed today. . He said he would send out a district nurse. I said are you trying to set off World War three. He asked me why and I explained what happened on Friday and the fact that they said I’m not disabled. I said I was in tears in the end. He said well she’s wrong and of course you can have a district nurse. I don’t think he’s very impressed. Anyway I can’t have anyone in yet as up to yesterday I’m still positive for Covid. He doesn’t think hanging on for a few more days will hurt for my dressing. My Dr is so kind and understanding. I would never take advantage of that.
I haven’t won and I haven’t lost. I Need to keep a reasonable relationship with my surgery because the age I am I obviously need them. It doesn’t help to alienate them. They did make me upset and cross though.

So pleased you’ll be getting a district nurse coming out to you Mavis. Your doctor sounds brilliant and one we’d all want. You’re right to keep the surgery onside but I hope they behave more sensitively in the future.
Thank you Hon! But you’re not having my Dr!🤣😹. I don’t want him to rock the boat as I want him to stay. It’s like I say I can’t do anything about anything while I’m still positive. This Covid has knocked me flying. I don’t usually get so down but this really brought me down. I usually get my back right up if I’m treated badly. Like when I was in hospital for two days. They didn’t get away with that. I’m a very quiet peaceful person until I get put on.
Oh well you can’t blame me for trying Mavis😂👍Willing the test to be negative anyway. It’s understandable you feel down as you’ve been knocked sideways. You and I are very similar. I’m quiet and peaceful too but watch out anyone who tries to push their luck with me or Pete. Grrrrr!
Thank goodness you have a caring and sensible doctor. I hope he passes on instructions to all other surgery staff about their level of care and help to be offered. Good luck going forward.
Thank you Lemon. I don’t think he would say much as he’s not been there too long. He’s the sort of man that is a Gentleman. He will help you get your coat on and hold the door for you. What happened to all the men we used to have that would do that.
So true. Obviously conscientious, caring, well raised and well mannered. Not too many like that anymore. Good to have a Doc like that. Best wishes to you.
To be honest you should be able to feel at ease and be able to speak to a Dr without getting upset. Mind you it’s not like me to get like that. I should have set my Son on them. 🤣😹
I'm glad you can have a District Nurse. What a pity you had such an awful time trying to get one. I still think your surgery deserves a rocket. Fingers crossed that the Covid will go away tomorrow or very soon. xxx
What a good outcome for you Mavary and you certainly have a doctor thats worth keeping., although I think the staff need a good talking to. Lets hope you dont have to wait to long for the dressing to be changed. Good luck x
I'm pleased you managed to speak to the gp and he was kind, it makes such a difference. Let's hope the covid slings his hook and your dressing can get sorted!
Here’s hoping it works out well, the doctor may have a WORDin someone’s ear reminding them of your NEEDS, and his directives with regard to the care u require now.

Hi there, just to say that I find it extremely odd to be given amytriptylin for shingles as it’s an antidepressant .. doc tried to tell me it was for sleeping.. no thanks.. hope you soon get well xx
hi it’s supposed to calm th nerves in the Shingles. It’s nerves that have become inflamed by the Shingles and hopefully it will stop the stabbing sensation.
