Had some sort of virus for 11 days extremely tired and dizzy also short of breath . Dr listened to chest said no infection just virus causing shortness of breath? Virus seems to have gone but still short of breath and tired but not dizzy. My new dr said no point taking antibiotics or steroids for no reason. Iβm stressed as the lack of breath causing me a lot of distress. Saw a nurse today she just said ask at your yearly check up about it when you go in March. Grrr any ideas welcome or anyone similar and then breathing went back to normal ? Thank you in advance

Virus ?
Thank you just wish I knew why
Iβve had similar Vonnie! Iβm still very viral after almost 5 weeks now & feel I could sleep for England given the opportunity.
Keep warm, sleep & drink plenty is the advice. Hope you feel better soon! ππ
poor you bless I do hope you recover very very soon. π xxx
Thanks Vonnie, itβs fine. Itβs the time of year when everyone you speak to has something or other. Viruses can be persistent & stubborn so I wouldnβt be surprised if yours was still clinging on.
Hope itβs not interfering with your musical pastime π¬ xx
Unfortunately they moved the group further away and canβt attend. Now donβt laugh but I am learning harmonica at home lol x did you take steroids or antibiotics?
π Good for you! We spoke about this before so Iβd been wondering how it was going. Did you warn your neighbours? Lol
I took 7 days of Clarithromycin for a chest infection at the beginning of January.

Hi Vonnie I hope you feel better soon. Did the nurse suggest taking your Ventolin inhaler a little more often. Manuka honey is good for soothing your airways and it is anti bacterial too. So unhelpful of the nurse to say wait until March!
No she didnβt . I did try that today but didnβt seem to do anything . I will try the Manuka though brilliant idea π‘ thank you x
Manuka honey works excellently on skin infections, I also add teaspoon to my netti pot and quickly helps congestion. Make sure you use a higher medical grade. Here in the states I use Wedderspoon KFactor 16, find at local health food store
Vonnie50 I find Manuka Honey good too.
I also regularly use a cheaper blended honey adding lemon and ginger as a hot drink to sooth the tubes.
Manuka apparently loses some of its unique properties if you add hot/boiling water, which is why I use different for warm drinks.
Good luck!!
Apart from listening to your chest, did the doctor check your oxygen levels and your peak flow capacity.....I have asthma / COPD so that gets checked .
I would go back to your doctor, to have to wait until March.....maybe four weeks away...when you are breathless and in distress is not much help in my opinion.
Maybe see another doctor in the practice, try your pharmacy for advice too
I would ring your surgery today, explain that you are in distress with breathlessness.
They have a duty of care.
Especially as the extra Ventolin didnβt help.....please tell them that.
Can you let us know what happens please.
For members in the UK the BLF have a helpline 03000 030 555.
And there is 111 out of hours service.
Best wishes
I hope you get help today, as the weekend is coming up.
Morning Vonnie, I'm the same at this moment, waiting for Oxygen Nurses to come to my Home, I am a Retainer of CD and though I know my Chest is ok , I too feel Quite iLL, on 02 for 24/7, can't make it to the Bathroom without exerting myself. Have been taking lots of Ventolin to no avail, that's why I think my 02 levels have retained more Carbon Dioxide this time. I am on Long Term Prednisolone which I hate, but my Consultant said it is for "Quality of Life" OMG, The Dam things are evil, No more can be done for me, so I have to Swallow them . Hoping for a Miracle as I'm sure you do too. Hope you feel better very Soon Hun. Lots of Love. C. XXXX
Sorry to hear of all your troubles and you still took time to reply to me xx hoping you get some relief very soon x ππ»
I'm so sorry to read you are feeling so unwell so I'm sending best wishes for a speedy recovery to you. Beat wishes Hacienda πππππΈπ
Hello Vonnie. Sorry to hear about your problems, hope it clears up soon. I have had a virus for 4 weeks now and last Monday I was taken to the hospital as my breathing was bad. I am now on a nebuliser 3 times a day to help my breathing and it helps no end. Not sure how long I have got to use the nebuliser but I have a nurse come in each day to check on me and do blood pressure etc. I feel better than I did but not quite right yet. If u r struggling with ur breathing it b worth a trip to A&E. I donβt think it is worth just struggling on. Hope things get better for u soon. Best wishes. ππ€
Hi, Vonnie. Thanks for your post. I hope you start to recover soon. My friend who had LVR las year has been feeling under the weather the same way you describe and is very worried. He is waiting to hear back from the MacMillan Nurses. I will tell him there is a silent virus going round that makes you ill and breathless without being feverish.
O you poor thing hope you feel better soon x
Hi Vonnie,
Listening to your chest does not always give the best diagnosis. My chest was apparently clear, until I went to hospital on a Sunday and they discovered pneumonia. Definitely get yourself checked out. You shouldn't be feeling so breathless. There must be a reason.
What did you do ? get X-ray ? Really am worried
Yes, They gave me a chest x-ray. Id been waiting 4 hours and between seeing the nurse assessor and the Dr. my temperature had gone up and my oxygen SATs had gone down. The x-ray picked up the infection.
On further analysis it proved to be pneumonia. They insisted on keeping me in hospital - I wasn't too happy but the analysis was done and they did make me better.
Could you ask your dr to send off a sputum sample for you? To ease your stress and find out if anything sinister is growing. Cx
