Hi, I get this occasionally but not all the time. I think that a check up with your doctor or nurse may be in order.

Yes,for most of life.combination of antihistamines, steroid nose spray, painkillers + decongestants help a bit, plus sinus washes + occasional antibiotics

I get problems with my nose, it's similar to a spot and yes it bleeds. I use KY jelly to moisten it. This helps UpTo a point, I'm on oxygen therapy so I can't use Vaseline because of its content. Because I got the flu and the doctor put me on antibiotics at xmas it's cleared up for now.

I have the same problem and am also on oxygen. I have a cream from the doctor called Naseptin which is supposed to clear up infection but the problem seems to be more with the secretions in my nose drying up overnight and then once I get up I have a runny, sometimes bleeding nose for about an hour.

You could research air purifiers.

Speak to your GP surgery about steroid nasal spray.

Neilmed nasal wash - I use these often. Can be unpleasant when you have a cold but I like to get all that stuff out of my nose as I think it reduces the chance of infection.

Learn to breath through your nose more often than you do. Practice belly breathing. Sit quietly and do it. It helps everything.

You may want to check if foods have an impact - a tedious experiment I know...

Histamine - antihistamines can be a great help. There are many foods that cause an histamine response. You could look into that.

Very best.

God bless.

I've heard about the air purifier and some people keep their window open! I'm too much of a chicken to have the window open all night. I am experimenting at the moment with my house plants. I've put them all into my bedroom, it looks like a jungle now lol. But the grass/spider plant is supposed to be the best one. I'll keep you posted

Absolutely. Alternates between dry blood clots in the nose, pink when I blow my nose or more fluid, which is more like the traditional nosebleed. My nose is blocked and dry all the time, even more so in the morning and I make it more comfortable with Steramar congestion relief, however nothing seems to work completely. Becanase etc. seems to encourage bleeding. Have been looking at the suggestions on this forum with interest. I had an operation on my nose when I was 8 years old to enable me to breathe more easily, it might have been for a deviated septum and I’m wondering if that problem has reoccurred.

Hi bluebirds... I have chronic rhinitis besides lung problems ...and at the age of 10 or 11 I had tonsils out adenoids out plus my sinus drilled ... I now have a broken nose and often wonder if the surgery caused my problems

Don't have any bleeding, but had a bunged up nose from my early teens. Occasional sinusitis for which I was given antibiotic, and in 1987 had an operation on my nasal cavities when had a polyp removed, and little tiny bones up my nostrils were trimmed to increase the size of my airways (as near as I can remember Sinepie Escopens). Also, holes drilled into my cheek sinusis. This improved the situation somewhat. I noticed catkins on hazel recently, so started taking antihystamines. Tree pollen starts really early in the year, maybe global warming is making hayfever season even earlier? I understand that polyps removed surgically can come back. Don't know whether mine has or not. Went on a nasal spray which contains a steroid. This seemed to help quite a lot; however I found that steroid can induce diabetes, so as I'm pre-diabetic, I've stopped using that. Trying out Sterimar which helps but is short lived, so constant use required.

there are some cheap good quality air purifiers nowadays. I have them in most rooms . Use them in conjunction with the plants

Yes I agree, I bought an Air Purifier on the advice of a GP and found definite improvement of air

Hi Grettal, I too suffer with stuffy nose problems. I have allergic rhinitis and take antihistamine daily, I also use a nasal spray. I cannot smell most of the time either. I have suffered like this for 50 years and have learnt to live with it. I hope you are getting the help you need. Take care, Maximonkey
