COPD AND EXCESS WIND ( BURPING)

Hi I’m end stage COPD, struggling very badly, recently I’ve had lots & lots of wind, goggled it and found out that it’s one of many side affects of this horrid illness, but never been mentioned by the nurses or the air team. Has anybody else had anything like this ?

I hadn’t heard about this symptom. Have you thought of getting some medical advice about it? I am sorry that you are struggling. Do you feel confident with your doctors? Do you have enough support?Kate xx

Doctor, air team and Pallitive team never heard of it, so I googled it again, and yes it can happen, it’s horrible along with every thing else with COPD, be so glad when it’s over.

I have a lot of burping and wind didn’t think it was connected to copd which I have too. Does end stage copd that you have got mean your life is coming to an end as I hear lots of people saying they have end stage copd

Hi Chalky, thank you for your reply, I only found out about it because I goggled it, end stage COPD doesn’t always mean end of life, but in my case, my symptoms are now so bad, I know the end is not far off and to be honest I’ll be glad when it’s over, every day is more than a struggle, I’m so so tired.

I see you too have heart failure, not a good combination with COPD, be careful using subutoml, ventolin, speeds up the heart rate.

Regards steve

Thank you for your reply so sorry you are feeling so Poorly praying you may feel I bit better soon. I hardly use the ventolin inhaler but thank you for your advice. Yes having heart failure and copd isn’t good but take my medication and hope for the best thank you again

I have Gaviscon or Tums but also always make sure I have some of those little mint imperials as they help both my breathlessness and trapped air ...

can I ask if you got sorted with this my dad is exactly the same dealing with end stage copd, really struggling to move to the toilet now, ankles are swelling we found out he’s retaining carbon monoxide, his stomach is bloated he feels like re full of air bubbles/ wind. He’s steriod dependent on 7.5 daily but struggles to stay on that too. They have recently put him on oramarph liquid morphine for chest pain it’s horrible to watch him struggle doing anything x
