Yes I take antihistamines when I need them and also when I go on cruises I take the form that stops seasickness. Never had a problem. We are all different so you maybe should judge how you feel when you take them.
I keep some handy, but my husband uses more than I do. (He's wheezy, but only diagnosed as mildly asthmatic.)
Antihistime is included in my maintenance plan. Probably more for my asthma than my bronchietasis. I have no issues with them A pharmacist is a good port of call to check if they would have an adverse affect
Yes.ive year round allergies + take a prescription antihistamine plus top up with loratidine,or cetrizine- both bout £1 or less ( don't buy branded as cost 4x as much, same drug)
As cetirizine makes me drowsy 1/2 a small tablet is fine for me. I buy supermarket or chemist brands (same ingredient) because they're cheaper.
Thanks everyone think I'm going to give them a try, resent warmer weather made me a little whezzie
I had a chat with the pharmacist when I needed some, to make sure the one I bought wouldn't cause problems with my COPD and meds.
Hi willanna,I take Fexofenadine 120mg daily and I have Bronchiectasis all year round
Hi I have got bronciactsis and Asthma as well as RA. I have been on Loratadine for years and am told to take it all year, not just summer. Good luck.
My allergy problems coincided with my bronchiectasis diagnosis. I tried various otc antihistamines but nothing worked. I now take a prescribed one, Fexofenadine once a day all through the year.Still get affected by certain things, but they take the edge off.
Hi Willanna, I too have bronchiectasis as well as asthma, hayfever and a post nasal drip. My antihistamine is Fexofenadine which is prescribed by my GP, but you can use any antihistamine. It’s really important to use them if you need them as the extra irritation caused to your airways by hayfever is not good for you and can exacerbate your bronchiectasis. Any pharmacist can help you out. I hope you get sorted soon.
Yes, I take Fexofenadine HCI 180 mgs, fluticasone spray 50 mgs, azelastine spray for year round allergies.
I have 180mg prescription from my gp. And I have copd. It’s fexofenadine which could not be bought at chemists but is by far the best but I noticed an ad on tv last night and it would appear you now can. I use a steroid inhaler but fexofenadine is so good if pollens are high I often think it’s the more important of the two 👍🏻👍🏻
