Hello i have allergic asthma. I have an injection every 4 weeks to reduce my reactions
What are the injections? Do you find they make a big difference?
They won't give me anything like that, I've asked .
Seams I have to suffer, and put up with multiple allergies.
The only person who can make that descision is a lung specialist. I had to go to southampton hospital to see a specialist there who then made the descision based on different tests i had done there. I was then placed on a trial at my own hospital. The injections have to be done at the hospital because of the risk of anaphylaxia.
I have allergic asthma and it seems worse than its ever been this month waiting on blood test results for allergies An appointment with consultant in the new year and breathing tests in January.
Not sure why so bad this time on an extra inhaler as well as monkalaust tablets. I am hoping and praying for answers to manage it better.
I hope and pray you are getting the help you need to get it better.
I hate this time of year! The last two years since my kidney cancer surgery had been horrible. I’ve been given montelucast and initially felt better but I’ve had issues since my last pain therapy. I’m on two inhalers too but been referred to another consultant as my GP isn’t satisfied with my treatment via another hospital
I am the same. I can’t seembto avoid the triggers and the attacks seem worse and longer. Today is the first day in ten that I haven’t woken up in the night thinking I’m going to have to go to A&E
I find stress is or has been a big problem for me. I take citellopram which is an anti depressant. It allows me to better control my emotions. It seems to give me that bit of time to consider my responces to thongs before i launch into something. If i find myself getting into a disagreement i just stop it is not good for my health.
I have severe asthma with onset later in life. I am not allergic to anything! But, I have inflammation that is caused by everything, dust, smells etc. I also have chronic sinusitis. I had sinus surgery yesterday. My ENT thinks the surgery will help since I have chronic infections that never clear up, causing further inflammation.
I live in the States so I am also being referred to Vanderbilt for evaluation for a Bronchial Thermoplasty. It is a procedure that is performed using a bronchoscope where they use heat to destroy some of the smooth muscle in the bronchial tubes. It is suppose to drastically reduce bronchospasms, thus reduce the severity of asthma attacks.
The procedure has been approved in the U.S. since 2010 and has been effective with limited side effects.
Do you have this procedure in the U.K.?
I think things get worse when central heating is switched on. I had storage heaters taken out and now use an oil filled radiator and a humidifier. Luckily my flat is small so while this heating is expensive I seem to cope better though my lungs are always worse during the winter, thanks to central heating.
I also have asthma which has worsened. I quit smoking 30 yrs ago and my asthma and allergies got worse! Maybe because I didn't take my meds as I was prescribed till maybe 10 yrs later, I now developed COPD.
I'm allergic to everything. Can't be near any fragrances, dust, smoke etc. the other nite I went to a mid- eastern Hookah bar to see a friend perform in a belly dancing show. Though Hookah doesn't have any smell, I found out it is more dangerous as you are fooled into thinking it's harmless. (I didn't smoke). After being there a short time I start getting breathless. After a while I couldn't even talk, I was so out of breath. My inhaler wasn't helping. I finally left there after about an hour and by the time I got out the front door I thought I was going to die. I was alone and was gasping for breath with terrible wheezing. I walked over to a nearby table outside and leaned over praying not to die. Thankfully after about 15 minutes It started to ease up enough that I went to my car and put the the air-conditioner on full blast. It probably didn't help that I had just thought I'd gotten over about five days of bronchitis, with that usual dry hacking cough keeping me awake at night. When this happens I get short of breath. So going to that place was not a good idea I guess.
If you are recovered from her the next day I looked online and found out that Studies have been done that shows the air-quality in hookah bars is just as bad or worse than being in a place full of cigarette smoke. It's insidious because it doesn't smell and you think it's OK.
I recently moved from the mountains in North Carolina to be near family near Las Vegas. The climate is very dry here and though I haven't had the heat on, which is too bad to me in the winter in NC , The low humidity here has been irritating my respiratory system. So I just ordered a humidifier.
I would like to hear from others about any new treatments for co existing allergic asthma and COPD I live in the state where marijuana is legal, and heard that that could help. But when I went to a dispensary yesterday, they said to be effective you have to smoke it. That would be impossible.
Excuse this long post Hope to hear from others with their comments
Happy holiday season to all! 🎄🌴
The thing is, people seem to think they are allergic to things when most chemicals are simply toxic. It is just our bodies reacting naturally to toxic substances. Look in your cupboards at all the labels on everything you use including food, personal products, clothing, hardware& cleaning products & I think there, you will have 95% + of the answer. Wherever you can, keep it natural is all I can suggest.
