Frustration

I wrote to my GP practice today:

My question: I can't do a flow test for COVID because of Essential Tremors. When I reported to 119 that my wife tested positive (on Saturday) I was told to ask my GP surgery for potential help. I have no symptoms as yet but we live in a small cottage and shielding is very difficulty! I have COPD, type 2 Diabetes and Osteo Arthritis. Can you please tell me what to do?

Thank you for contacting the Practice.

Unfortunately there is not another way to be tested for COVID if you develop symptoms/feel unwell and need medical advice please contact us or 111.

If you decide to isolate as part of your wife testing positive for COVID and need any assistance with the picking up of medication, shopping etc please contact the Early Help Hub on 01508 533 933.

Thats awful but unfortunately what I've come to expect with the whole covid thing.... the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing and neither want to take responsibility

Have you any family members who could help you? I don't know what else to suggest. I hope that your wife soon recovers and that you manage to avoid catching it in spite of your small home.

Anyone can do it for you micox if they're wearing plenty of personal protection as a nurse would ie a good mask (I use FFP2), protective gloves, change clothes immediately afterwards. I'd do it for a close friend or loved one especially if s/he were vulnerable. Do you have a good friend or family member who'd do it for you?

I do think its absolutely rubbish that no-one at your surgery will help you out with a lateral flow text, dreadful.

Do you have any family or friends that could help you out here Micox? If not ring 111 and ask them what you should do. Or try calling the early help hub and ask if they can advise. Its a pretty sad society that cant provide help for you. I would help any of my friends or neighbours in this situation. I do hope you manage to get some help and soon x

It is pathetic that your surgery can't send out someone to help you with the Covid test. I sincerely hope you don't catch it x

I'd get yr wife to do it 4u she can wash hands prior to doing it and if she wears a mask while doing it

Phone 119 they seem to be the ones to give valid information. I think they can send out PCR test and antiviral medication if they think you need it. Good luck x

I want to do the following!!!!!!! This is just another con that this government is perpetrating on us. Covid is gone don't you know??? I hope you can get help surely a nurse from the surgery could help. I stupidly didn't hoard tests and had to pay £9.50 to get 5 tests last week. I'd done 5 tests as I was feeling unwell but all clear think I had flu, good luck and take care x
