Just following up on my post from a few days ago, I did have a little setback when I came off blood thinners, anxiety about it, but have moved on from that thankfully.
I walked 1km today, with a rest half way, so am progressing well, now i'm just about 12 weeks into recovery.
I have a question about pneumonia recovery and coughs.
I've had a very slight cough, feels like irritation at the back of my throat, probably just the cold air from the walk earlier affecting me, but its there.
Chest feels very clear and sats are excellent (97-100)
I've read that a cough can still be present after serious pneumonia at 3 months.
Essentially, how common is a slight cough. Literally, I cough maybe a few times, every couple of hours, often when I sit for a while. When I move, it goes, and I never cough when out for a walk.
I still get tired during the day, but understand this is pretty par for the course.
I'm hoping to return to work in 4 weeks (phased back in) and working from home.
Thoughts folks?

Hi lm pleased to hear you are getting there, good luck with everything you are doing so well. If you're worried about your cough please have a word with your GP or nurse at least they will be able to advise you and put your mind at rest. Hope this has helped you, have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx
As I’ve said before and will keep saying. You ARE doing really well. The fact you are able to do all these things when only a few weeks ago you were considering a stair lift shows how much you have improved. Yes speak to your gp because speaking to them anyway but I certainly wouldn’t be worried about a slight cough. When I have had pneumonia in the past I have had a hacking cough for months and months plus been very unwell and off work for months. I didn’t say this previously because I don’t want to worry you! You are doing SO so well. Try to concentrate on that and look forward to continuing to improve as you get stronger and are able to return to work. Is all good 👍
Awesome, just wanted to ask, but it does sound like i'd doing really well. In fact my GP has been amazed by my progress, considering how ill I was. My biggest issue is anxiety I guess.
Anyway, my car passed its MOT, and will be delivered back to me (with new brakes etc) so in the next few days, i'm going to try driving!
I still get tired, but so seem to be accelerating in my recovery I guess!
I do not think I have long covid, just post viral fatigue.
One thing I cannot wait to reduce and go is the tiredness! I'm so groggy in the mornings and do not pick up till around 10am, and the tiredness hits me again late afternoon, usually around 5pm. Hoping to go back to work soon, discussing with my GP. I really hope I start to feel less tired in the next month.
Feeling drained a lot of the time gets you down, and when I start work again, I really need lots of energy!
Of course, i'm much more active now, so burning more energy. Thats my theory as to why I'm still feeling the same level of tiredness. As my energy increases, I'm pacing up my activity and using that extra energy capacity!
However there has to be a point when I start to get close to normal, I presume that is as I get to the 6 month mark?
Sounds to me like you're doing fine. I think we just have to live with the tiredness, frustrating though that is and listen to our bodies. I overdid it yesterday, not entirely my own fault, and my body is insisting on a big flop today. Keep on onwards and upwards. xxx
