Viral Pneumonia Question

Hi, just joined this group, thanks for accepting me. Question- 10-29-21 I got sick, held off for a few weeks as I thought I had the flu when it was viral pneumonia. Still not very strong, returned to work, pleurisy came and went and concerned now about being out of breath (not severe) and feel like crap but not near as bad as before. Unproductive cough. Taking Alleve and an expectorant. Any help and suggestions would be appreciated. Also advice on preventing this from happening again appreciated. How is viral pneumonia contracted? I read it could be a fungus; do not understand that. I quit smoking in 2003. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.there’s loads of information and. support here.If you’ve had pneumonia it does takea while before you get better.

You need to look after yourself,

I’m not a Dr,so I don’t know how you catch viral pneumonia.

If you live in the UK you need to speak to your GP, f you can.

Take care.

Hi most people who have had pneumonia will tell you not to rush recovery. Pneumonia can take many weeks or months to recover from.

Colds, flu and covid are viruses too & easily picked up in the community. If you're low you're immune system cant cope.

You really can't hang about with lung issues (I used to every winter & now still paying for it. Several viral colds/pleurisy turned in bacterial pneumonia for me) and must see a GP to get your lungs listened to asap. Is there a Hospital Drop in Centre near you? Get help wont you.

ps if you're in the uk check out the NHS website for pleurisy and viral pneumonia for accurate information. P

Welcome to our forum and in some ways not the best time, it being Christmas/New Year, so lots of members take time to spend with their families. In effect that means you'll get fewer replies. However lots of members are at hand to help and advise you if they are able. I see you've already had a handfull of replies and it's always worth calling the free BLF helpline(the telephone number is on their website.Wishing you a healthier and happier New Year. 🐿🥜😷🎅🎄

The last time I had pneumonia I took a good six months to get over it. Be kind to your body and rest as much as you can. I hope you feel better soon.
