In vegetables we trust.

I would just like to add the importance of diet and exercise. I shall take it for granted that you don't smoke, and if you do then you have come to the wrong place. Back to diet. Veg soup = Cabbage, leeks, spinach, carrots, onion, and garden peas. Use a veg or chicken stock cube and blend the lot. Put in Jug then fridge keep no longer that four days. Take a bowl a day you will soon see the difference.

Surely a good diet is for everyone regardless of whether they are a smoker or not? Why do you say a smoker has come to the wrong place? This is a lung site after all. Smokers belong here as much as anyone else.

I admit that my remarks were insensitive. You see, I live in a world of smoke-free family and friends. I also realise that nicotine is the most addictive drug in the world. I say that because even now I think of the golden weed with affection. I loved smoking and when the doctor tells me I have six months to live I shall dash to the nearest tobacconist. One other point, I intend to live as long as possible by keeping to a balanced diet and exercise. I shall be eighty next year and only have one medical condition...Acid reflux.

Well this is a forum for those with lung problems. I am not sure why you are here if you don't have any?

I believe that there are some smokers on the forum but there is no judgement here. We offer support to all with lung disease whenever it is needed.

If someone is a smoker then this is the best place to get both advice about thier lung condition and also support in helping to quit what was a pleaseure for many of us.As an ex smoker yourself you must realise that and give support to all who enter our domain if and when you can.

😊

Many smokers got led astray when young by other Oiks! Then try to fit in with the crowd as seen "Hey i'd the Dude Smoking"(when in reality plain Daft)But when young often/most likely gullible and stupid.

I was in Care all my life so saw it all and best thing ever did was not smoking my self.

13-14-15 or younger thinking they have arrived when smoking! which then increases the amount as others around smoke then.

Then not till later in life do they realise been Stooopid!

Your vegetable soup would not last 4 days in this house- too many greedy gannets around.

You forget the importance of B vitamins which you get from Red meat along with L Carnitine which is very important in muscle growth and conditioning and the lung is a muscle No less.

A Balanced diet is best and humans are Omnivores Not herbivores or Carnivores Which we share with other animals like Bears.Monkeys.apes etc

What's the Veg you can eat too much of? Peas as high in Sugars.

One for some to watch esp if had clots are Green veg like Kale.Spinach.Brussels"Green Leaf" As High Vit K Which lowers your INR making more prone to clots.

Interesting! Your statement on "eating Green Veg being high in Vit.K which lowers INR, making more prone to clots".

Is this a medically proven fact?

Sounds worrying if Experts advise on eating vegetables for good healthy living!

in reply toYummyBear

I'm on Warfarin so they try to keep INR between 2-3 there is a list of things to be wary of/avoid "Cranberry Juice" is a no no and Vit K which comes from Green Leaf drops it so have to take more as had some greens other day INR crashed so had to take 19mg of warfarin to try to recover.

Tablets come with sheet of things reads like a whose who of what!

But for some high VitK could be an undisclosed issue? as we all come from somewhere!

Plus so many "Squeal" eat fruit! Fruit is actually quite toxic to us it's very heavy on the liver to process/convert

Thank you for explaining. None of these facts are mentioned by so-called Healthy Living Experts, who push the need for a diet of fruit and veggies, particularly for those trying to improve their medical conditions. I never knew anything about Vit.K effects, until I read your article, so will be mindful in future. Thank you.

So many of these so called "Experts" are anything but to be honest even Qualified had issues with as got told a lie often then just keep repeating it till they believe it themselves! Well i'm sure you know what i mean!

They still think titanic Sunk yesterday!

One of the best fruits is Kiwi one of worst is Grapes as so full of sugars.Pineapple is good but eat before meals helps breakdown food!

Bananas are one to be mindful of plus always need to be kept warm and keep away from other fruits are make them ripen too quickly!

They change with colour more green higher Alkaline Browner more sugars but for some can cause issues if too one or other plus high in potassium.

Trivia for today! Which Fruits a Vegetable and which Vegetable is a Fruit?......

Bananas are a Vegetable and Tomatoes are fruits! Plus extra Trivia........ Only part of tomatoes anything can eat is the fruit as rest of plant is toxic to man and Beast. (Deadly nightshade Group)
