I just recovered from viral pneumonia after being diagnosed on 11-11-2022. Is it common, after all this time to have good and bad days (meaning feeling well then the next day feeling like a truck hit me) and also my breathing hasn't quite returned to normal either. It's not real bad, but it is noticeable. Thanks again all! My second pneumonia-related question.

Pneumonia Recovery Issue
Hi siram it took me quite a while to get over it when I had it, but if you are worried please seek medical advice. Let us know how you are doing. Have a great day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx
I had bilateral pneumonia. To be honest it took me about six months to get back to normal.
Hello slram,
Since pneumonia is caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi I'd say I'm pretty sure it will take some time to get over. I had a viral infection in October that took six weeks to recover from. And it was mostly bad days. Granted I am immunosuppressed. But my goodness I thought I would never get over it. I had to pace myself just doing housework in small bits and then lie down again. Although it seems old fashioned , I have a squeezed lemon in hot water and honey everyday without fail. It seems to ward off the evil that wishes to crush my lungs. Maybe wishful thinking but I will stick to it. Best wishes for your recovery. 😄👋
Thank you and I will try that. Any particular kind of honey?
Hi thereWhen I had pneumonia ( with atelacstasis of left lung) it took me a year to get back to my former energy. Maybe that was just me, but I was exhausted, so I would say take it one day at a time. I took a month off work, then went back , took annual leave for a bit, but realised I was not firing on all cylinders at all.
But everyone is different and it depends on many factors.
Best Wishes

Hi I had Pneumonia in 2019 & was in hospital for a week felt unwell still for the following month & then ended up with another infection ( so they said) but couldn’t admit to hospital as it was full. Slowly improved then in February 2020 I had a follow up X Ray which apparently still showed I had Pneumonia. No one told me this till 2021 because of lockdown! I didn’t have any symptoms by then which my consultant said was positive. So basically I still had evidence of infection without symptoms 3 months later. Maybe you are in a similar position. It’s just a thought. Hope things improve soon for you x
Thanks-what do you do in a case like that then?
There was nothing to do as I wasn’t told untill months later. My Respiratory consultant said I’ve had infections on most of my CT’s for past 3 years when I told him I didn’t his reply was that’s good that you didn’t have symptoms it means it’s been mild ??? 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ The following scan after all these so called infections showed Bronchiectasis. I’m so confused with it all.
I hope you start to improve soon x
Hope you get better soon slram, plenty of rest and tlc x
Hi , I had pneumonia and sepsis at the beginning of October 2019 and was in hospital for a week . The recovery time really took me by surprise, fatigue was shocking , had to listen to my body and sleep lots, doing one thing a day was enough, you will get there but it takes about 3 months to feel normal!
Hi slram, It took me a couple of months to fully recover from pneumonia. Be kind to yourself and rest when you need to! I hope you start to feel better soon!
