Nebulisers

I need to purchase a nebuliser. My GP will prescribe the nebulas but doesn’t provide loan machines or recommend brands. There are hundreds on the internet and I’d really appreciate any guidance.

Thanks!

I have portable Omron nebuliser. Can be purchased from a company called Evergreen or Amazon. Have tried a different make but find Omron the best. I have 2. 1 for at home and 1 I keep in the car so got on hand if required.

in reply to Bevvy

Omron was on my shortlist and a portable spare for the car is a great idea.

Many thanks!

My first one was on loan from the hospital, then I bought my own from evergreen nebulisers. One mains operated and one small portable battery one . Both Omron

I only use mine in emergencies now.

Evergreen are very helpful, you can contact them by phone or email for advice on the best model for your medication and for your needs .

My hospital doesn't loan them out, but Omron was on my "shortlist" to buy.

Many thanks!

Do you have a specialist to talk to?

If I remember correctly, certain disorders/illnesses can get the nebuliser machine for free as a loan off of the NHS. They will also service it for you.

It is also important to know how the machine works, is it ultrasonic, etc. As that impacts the medication too.

I personally have a big Phillips Respironics one and a smaller Beurer one for on the go.

I have mine for severe asthma.

Very helpful, many thanks! I'll take much of that up with my GP.

You're welcome.

Should note though, Asthma isn't one of the qualifying conditions, although I had a brief 2 week loan. You might qualify though. :)

I'll gladly pay for the kit if it helps mean I can breathe!

Ditto exactly. Years since I purchased a nebuliser without asking. Very first time respiratory team came to me what did they bring----yes a nebuliser---saw no reason to ask. Probably used 20 days I a year for last 15 years. Well worth it.

My nebuliser is on loan from the county community respiratory team.Maybe your GP will give you the number.it’s worth trying before you buy.

Mediquip supplied it,they service it yearly.the GP supplies the nebules.

Good.leave msg if need be.i bought mine for years - only found out last year can be given by them x

It depends whether you need to nebulise antibiotics or not. If not, I’d recommend the Philips Innospire Go, which is small, light and fast. I got mine from Evergreen. I’d phone them & discuss your needs, they know their stuff

Evergreen seems a common thread. Many thanks for your reply.

I was born with PCD, but only started to see consultant who understood it two years ago, at age 84. She prescribed and supplied a NHS Philips Respironics to Nebulise Salbutamol and saline. I have bought my own travel Phillips innospire Go, from them, works ok. Good luck

in reply to Morrison10

Thanks...........and to you.

My wife also has the portable/small Philips InnoSpire Go Nebuliser, totally quiet, couldn't be easier to use. Her resp.team originally loaned the bigger mains driven Phillips equivalent, far too noisy! The GP organised the initial prescription for the Salbutamol 2.5mg/2.5ml nebuliser liquid unit dose vials which we can use on the portable too. Latter cost £139 vat free from Evergreen, costs £154 on Amazon inc vat.

Thank you; much appreciated.

I highly recommend speaking to Evergreen Nebulisers. They are so helpful and knowledgeable and will advise which model is best for your needs. Excellent company. I have a mains operated one and a portable battery one both from Evergreen. Happy Christmas and keep safe.

I have an Omron NE C28P from Amazon. It has all the bits and pieces and a rugged carrybag. Had it for 4 years no problems. Good luck

I’ll second everyone’s comments about Evergreen being helpful. Just bought my first nebuliser from them. I got a Pari because I wanted something which I could use with the aerobika if necessary. It takes about 5 minutes to nebulise 2.5 ml of 0.9 saline which seems to be helping. It’s quite noisy though! I might get the portable Philips Innospire one for travel though. Good luck 😊

Thank you - and to you.

I bought the same nebulizer that my doctor uses. If it's good enough for them it's good enough for me. Mine is AC2000

in reply to panda22

Good plan......thanks or the idea.

Before you pay out and purchase a nebuliser, see if your hospital will give you one, I get mine from BRI physio keep it for 3 years and then take it back at the next appointment and change it for a new one. If that's any help.
