Pseudomonas and night sweats

Hello! I have Bronchiectasis and am colonised now with Pseudomonas. I’ve been on promixin nebulisers for two or three years now twice a day. I experienced night sweats occasionally where I wake up cold with damp sheets and hair and have to change my pjs in the middle of the night. I could cope with that every now and then but lately it’s every night and is getting me down as I feel so yuk in my lovely bed! Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to manage it? I will mention it to my bronch consultant at the Brompton at my next appointment, just wondering what other’s experience of this is. Xx

I think that you need to call your consultant’s secretary now and get them to tell the consultant what is going on. Inhaled abs only help to keep pseudomonas numbers low but occasionally they have a party and need another method of antibiotic. Night sweats are a sign of infection. The last time I had them ( I am a lifetime bronch) I had a community aquired pneumonia undiagnosed on three visits to my GP. You could even have a virus. You will need blood tests to look at your inflammation levels. Please don’t leave it.

I so agree with Littlepom about contacting your doctor immediately about frequent night sweats. I have had bronchiactasis for a number of years, but never experienced what you are going through. It seems something else is going on.

My bronch consultant told me that pseudomonas causes night sweats when I was having them when I went in for eradication. Not pleasant 😕

Mmm ok, I think you might have a point there. I thought that night sweats were part and parcel of pseudomonas particularly as I’m colonised with it now but if the nebuliser antibiotic isn’t enough then that does need addressing. Feel generally ok otherwise and sputum not growing anything. What blood test is it? I just ask for a blood test for inflammatory markers? Thank you for your advice. I will get in touch with the consultant x

Yes it is the inflammatory markers to show if something is going on but I think that this is a job for the consultant. I hope that you get it sorted

If this is new to you then get your doctor to check for infection. Sadly I have suffered night sweats for years and is down to hormones and there is nothing they can do for me, but please get it checked x

Yes, they are awful aren’t they. I’m of an age where it could be hormone related but I’m on HRT now so I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ xx
