Nasal Cannula's for High Flow Oxygen. Baywater Health Care.

Good morning everyone, my respiratory nurses recently changed my oxygen prescription at Baywater to high flow 5-8 LPM, I was previously on 4-6 LPM. I have always used the straight nasal cannular's That Baywater have provided me with (picture enclosed).

But upon ordering today I was informed I would now need high flow Cannular's? As the straight ones should only be used upto 4 LPM?

What does a high flow cannular look like? Are the high flow ones that are curved at the end.

Or are they different altogether?

Can anyone please advise or help me on this?

Joseph

Hi Joseph I think the curved ones must be for the higher flow but can't be certain, but I'm sure someone will be along who can give you the answer. Have a good evening and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack πŸ• xxxxxx

Hi Joseph, sorry but I can't answer your question but I have curved nasal cannula and am not on High Flow Oxygen. Maybe the staff at Baywater could answer your query if you give them a call. Carole.

Joseph,i have done a little research on this for you and there are various ways they can give you a higher flow of oxygen either by changing your concentrator with one that provides a heated humidified supply of oxygen with a specially designed cannula or by other means.Baywater being the provider will come up with the best solution that meets your needs and under the guidance of your respiratory oxygen nurse i am sure you need not worry about which cannula you need as it will be provided for you.Best wishes Ski's and Scruff's

😊😻
