Good morning everyone, my question is to people who ware a nasal canular throughout the day or night to deliver oxygen up there nose. Does anyone else suffer with a runny nose? Or is it just me? I take Benadryl which sometimes stops the problem but I just wondered how other people combat this?
I look forward to any solutions or hacks.
Thank you all and have a lovely weekend.

Morning my local buddy, i find it dries my nose out when i have to wear the nasal canular like im having to do at present, and even the skin on the outside of my nose gets chapped. So i have exactly the opposite problem.
Hi I had the same trouble as you with my nose drying out and my doctor told me to coat the prongs of the cannula with KY Jelly. Give it a go it works well
Hi Jo, I Wear a Cunular for 16 Hours a day Mostly through the night. It doesn't make my Nose run but I do Take Carbocisteine That Liquidises the Mucus in the Lungs hence runny Nose. I do tend to have Blood from my Nose due to constant Canular wearing. otherwise No real Problems, always use a Moisturising Cream especially round the Nose stop it drying your Skin. Best of Luck. xxxx
Hi Joe, yes I use a nasal cannula and my nose is running like a tap at times. I would love to find something that helps it's really annoying and embarrassing 😬 Bernadette xx
Hi I've used a cannula for 14 months and am clearly very fortunate as I have no problem at all. I can't think of any reason why as I don't use any creams or take pills other than my medication. I hope you find a solution as it must be awful for you . X
I’ve had nasal drip ever since I started using oxygen some ten years ago. It’s very annoying at times but my GP says I need to use hay fever medication, spray and pills, for a month before referring me to a specialists. Since I take other pills and inhalers I’m not taking anymore. I just get use to the annoying mucus in my throat and nose. Good luck and let us know if you find a cure.
I had this until recently. My oxygen nurse gave me a Salter nasal cannula style 1600W/7 this has 7 ft tubing or there is a 1600/4 which has 4ft tubing. I used it last Thursday for the first time for m6 visit to the dentist. I had my oxygen on right from when I left home all the way through having my tooth filled and home again. I was so pleased my nose didn’t run at all. The prongs on the Salter 1600W are rounded rather than straight. It may be worth a try to see if it helps. Barbs x
I had one...all the time, runny nose. Got a cool mist humidifier (running it during winter; don't know yet what to do about rest of months (maybe the climate inside will be better due to the climate outside), and now absolutely no runny nose; after 5 year constantly having to blow my nose . The climate inside , for me, made a difference.
Runny, stuffed up nose: sounds like me. I was given a nasal spray to use, once a day and it works. It certainly stops the runny nose! Prescription meds.
