I think I mentioned the beautiful swans that we sit and watch from our lounge window ,and this morning they came right up to edge of the water for some food ,so I thought I'd share this photo with you ,

the beautiful swans
We have 3 swans at the back of house they sometimes walk out onto the road , they are very big swans π
Thank you for sharing Nanny, they are such graceful birds. Xxxx
How lucky you are Georgina, and it's a super photograph. They are incredibly beautiful birds aren't they. A pair of ducks hanging around for bits I think
Thankyou for posting.
Haha ,, the ducks come up to the front door for their food every day ,, ,,hope the swans follow them ,haha ,π
oh you are so lucky to have water at the bottom of your garden I would love to live on the sea front who knows when Mr o retired
Indeed we are lucky ,but like you I would love to live by the sea ,, I'll just have to makedo with summer holiday in Cornwall ,, , ,,looking for a nice cottage in Carbis Bay this year for a couple of weeks ,
we are looking at Norfolk for the granddaughters we did Cornwall last year
Where did you stay in Cornwall ,? We are looking at south Cornwall,,,,,we love the Norfolk Broads to , we did Devon last year ,
I have never been to Norfolk we have a week every year with the daughter and granddaughters we took them to monkey world last year they loved it. When Mr o and I got married we went abroad every year and we have some beautiful places hear in England
You will love Norfolk ,the lavender farms are love,y and the waterways, I remember going to monkey world a few years ago ,I think we stayed at Looe that year ,,,,,,Much the same as me ,we went all over Europe years ago ,then we became grandparents to our lovely Lois ,so then we holidayed all over uk ,now I really can't be bothered with going abroad ,,,like you I holiday with my daughter and granddaughter for two weeks of the holidays ,a girlie holiday it's quality time with my girls ...hubby has had enough of holidaying so stays behind to look after their dog,,,
Its fantastic getting to spend time with the granddaughters they are so funny with the things they come out with.
I also think its good for them to see this country before they go and visit others
Lois was born in March and in the September we all went to Majorca ,,,βοΈππΉ,,she hasn't stopped traveling since then she loves it many times πholidaying in different parts of America βοΈπ and the continent ,, and is going skiing in March for the first time ,βοΈπΏβ·, she's so excited πthe opportunities for the youngsters today are far different to when I was a child ,I remember I was the envy of some of my friends as every year we spent 2weeks in Wales haha , ,
its ok living on the seafront till the bad weather comes and also your garden start shrinking
Talking about bad weather, just been reading on the news
About 100 soldiers have been sent to Lincolnshire to help issue door-to-door warnings, while the Essex village of Jaywick is set to be evacuated.
In a statement about the Jaywick evacuation, Essex's fire service said: "Police officers will be calling at addresses in Jaywick from 4pm this afternoon to advise people that a full evacuation plan will be implemented starting at 7am on Friday."
Preparations are being made ahead of a predicted storm surge in the east of England, as severe flood warnings are put in place by the Environment Agency.
This must be a nightmare for these poor people.
Hope none of our members are involved.
I just saw that on the news ,it must be terrible for them year after year ,
they had a big tidal surge in 1953 in east Anglia a lot of people were killed in it , homes washed away ect , so its good they are well prepared for this kind of thing now
It must be awful. I live on the coast, just across from the beach but have never had problems with flooding & I hope I never do! πΊ
We are in South !Incolnshire , with a river / landing stage only yards from our French doors. ..... Tucked away in a sheltered area of the Wash , although have been told this village was affected back in the 1950's. We have had no warnings at all .
Jo.
How gorgeous & how wonderful to be able to see them regularly from the warmth of your house. They are so beautiful & graceful, really calming stress busters I would think.
Do you never experience problems with flooding? Penny xx
No problems with flooding at all ,thank goodness ,although the insurance premiums are quite high I suppose it's because of the close proximity,,I've lived in the area ( born 1/4 a mile away ) all my 70 years and never known flooding ,could be because it's the canal and not the river ? I'm not sure , but yes it's very peaceful ,
Ah yes that makes sense. Shame about the insurance though, I can't say I have ever heard of a canal flooding but I suppose they must.
How lovely to live near one, there is one a few miles away from me & it was one of our favourite places to take the dogs for a long walk. At that time it was not navigable as it was silted up but over the years parts of it have been cleared & you can go on very occasional trips via the society that is clearing it up & that is a real delight. P xx
Lovely picture, it must be fun watching them with their cygnets π xxx
Hi Nanny, What lovely swans. What a treat to have them so close by. You are indeed very lucky. What a good photographer you are! Jolyn . Would be proud of you.. RubyπΉ
