First thing first.... anyone on here got a decent lung they don’t want and wanna swap for a dodgy one let me know 🤣
Back at the very beginning of the year I was diagnosed with BOOP and eventually started on steroid treatment, I had a CT scan and breathing tests this week to check the progress etc. I was slightly worried as I’ve been noticing I’ve been getting a bit more breathless and the only way I can describe it is as rubbish on my chest. Even the breathing tests were tougher this time around.
Anyway, I had an appointment booked for the new year with my consultant but he rang me today as my results showed my breathing tests were worse than last time and more worrying my airways have gone very narrow. After discussions with his team I’ve now been diagnosed with ACOS (Asthma COPD overlap syndrome) as well as BOOP. I’ve now been given inhalers to try and help.
Anyone else with ACOS? What was your outcome? After a few months of treatment I’ve been told it might clear up, might just be Asthma or may be COPD. So again it’s another waiting day 🤦♂️

Hi, I have COPD with asthma overlap. My asthma is late onset. I am reasonably stable most of the time with inhalers. I have never been told that it 'might clear up'. Is your consultant planning to do any more tests or does he just want to know how you go on with the inhalers?I don't have decent lung to swap by the way; both mine are dodgy too 🙄
Hi, yeah mine is late onset I’m 32 now this all started with my lungs within the last couple of years. He wants to do the breathing tests and scans again after 3 months of the inhalers. He did it might clear up as it could be caused by my BOOP. His words I am a “very strange unusual case which has baffled him and various other drs and radiographers”
It's good to know that you are going to have more tests in 3 months time. I do hope that things improve for you. Do let him know if you don't feel much benefit from the inhalers after about a month. I had many different ones before hitting on one that really helped. I'm sorry that you have so many problems at such a young age. I'm 67. Best wishes.
Here's a virtual ((((hug)))). I wasn't told I have ACOS, just COPD with 'a touch of asthma'. Singing sessions work wonders for me. As well as taking the meds, eating healthily, avoiding triggers.
