We have both got funeral plans with Dignity. We were recommended them by Skipton Building Society who manage our finances. They use local funeral directors, which they nominate. Can’t tell you if they are any good because we haven’t used them yet! We paid in full but I think you can pay monthly.
Well Carnival567 the good news is ... you have not had the occasion too try them out yet!! as to the original Question .... I concur with Carnival567 .
My Funeral Plan is with Golden Charter, paid in full, they are used by a local Funeral Directors. I guess my Executors (2 friends) will find out after I have gone whether they are any good or not. Hoping not to need the plan for some time to come yet though. xx
I am with Co-op Funeralcare so that my sons will not have to worry about a lot of stuff/decisions needed at a time when they're mourming etc. x
My husbands was the COOP and was very straight forward as they have joined with dignity now so use local funeral directors.
Hi yes a golden charter plan with interest free payment plan but I can also pay more when I want to
I Also used the plan for my mum and husband mums one was a first class service with the local funeral directors only addition to the costs were the knees up after
Thanks for your replies. I will check these out.
We've been thinking for some time that we should put something in place but don't know where to begin! Do you need to suss out a particular undertakers or do you take out an insurance that pays the costs when needed?
xx Moy
From what I've read ,if you deal with the undertaker direct you just pay the fee he charges you at the time? Insurance may need to be topped up later? If I'm wrong perhaps someone will put me right.
Hi hubby and I have got them with a company called golden leaves they use a local funeral directors and we paid it all at once but you can pay in instalments.
I have given my daughter the money for Pure Cremation and asked for my remains to be scattered on the garden of rememberance. My family are not religious so no point to a funeral.
Hello Aingeful, I have a Dignity funeral plan. Its good you just ring a number when anything happens, or should I say the family do. My daughter had one of those cremation type ones which was much cheaper and very quick but not everyones cup of tea but her husbands choice for himself. Some Insurances incorporate a funeral payment from your death payment. I think seek advice as the choices are vast and so are the prices. But prepayment is a good idea less stress at a sad time for the family. Best Wishes
Well my Hubby and myself bought our own cemetery plot 20 years ago. I have a Funeral plan with Sun Life.
I have everything.Nothing written down, from my cream coloured coffin, my flowers that I really love. The songs I want played in the Church, just about everything really. My Hubby has the same. I don't like talking about it, because it's quite depressing.
When you think of it, the only thing that you can be sure of when you're born. Is that you die. It's inevitable isn't it.
Gjkas, it is quite depressing 😍 I just want to make things easier for my family. We have just come back from our seafront. My eldest daughter Dee died in April and had written her wishes down. These included taking her ashes in the lifeboat to a little local island that she loved. Very sad but beautiful.❤ its a lovely evening here ,I was with two of my other daughters,we felt we needed to be close.
Oh I'm so sorry about the loss of your Daughter . You must be heartbroken. I'm glad that 2 of your other Daughters were with you. Yes sometimes you feel that you need to be close to each other, especially when something like this happens. You have to tell yourself that your Daughter is at rest now. peacefully sleeping. No trouble or in pain.
I don't know what else I can say to you except, Godbless you all and keep you safe. 🙏 xx
