Good morning/afternoon to all of you. Mike and I have been learning a little more about Emphysema and he has decided we need to move. We live in the mountains of TN and we are 3500 feet above sea level. He has more trouble here in TN then when we were in Florida a few weeks back clearing out a house.
Usually we love to move and change lives but this time it is just plain sad. We built our Off Grid home in the mountains as our sanctuary and we love the area. This was one of Mike's dreams. We thought we would be here at least 20 more years. I hope we can find a new dream that will get him excited about moving. On a good note we are very lucky that we are able to move.
Yesterday we told my stepdaughter and the grands what is coming up. Mike thinks we need to move fast as he feels the elevation is very bad for him. The kids are all on board and started looking at Realtor sites in Florida. They are all ready to move with us…realistically that is sweet but I don't really think they will be able to. It will be heartbreaking to leave them as we are all very close.
These are just the facts. Today I need to cancel our new countertop order as we will not be remodeling our kitchen here. I put multiple ads in last night for some of our bigger things. We built a store last year to sell things out of and all we have done is add things to it. I guess it is time to open up on the weekends and get rid of everything. One of the hard things to get rid of is the log splitter. Sadly we won't be needed firewood anymore.
So this week will be about selling what we can and maybe finding a new place to live. Oh and we need to bring some cows back in the graze our land. We had them taken out last year so we could plant a couple hundred baby pine trees on our property.
One day at a time…that's all we can do. Staying upbeat for Mike as we do what we have to do.
Have a wonderful day everyone
I'll leave you with a picture of Princess Niki, lol. This was 2 years ago and she is really going to miss the wood stove and the farm.

Papua New Guinea. Just across the Straits from NT. I thought TN might be near NT. I knew it couldn't be English because there are no mountains in NT. There certainly are none in NG either as I live in that Post Code.
Just across the Straits from NT. This is why people get confused. NT is Northern Territories, Australia. We all know the country not the abbreviations that their locals use for States counties districts etc.
I know where USA is. I have no idea where a code letter is. I am in NG in UK. Meaningless really. Until I decode it to Nottingham.
Oh, PNG is still the same as in the above post in my previous reply. Regards Rib
Hi and wow, it's a shame but good on you, hope all goes well and ur happy. Both of u take care. X Sonia x
It would be sad to leave there, but you can look forward to new adventures! Floridas climate, would be quite similar to ours,(Gold Coast.Oz.) Love the pic,by the way, happy packing, xxx
Thank you. It was very sad last might. My stepdaughter and her daughter drove over last night to bring me dinner. Mike is a plain eater and would not eat the Indian food that was brought for me. I'm really really going to miss the kids and seeing the grands grow up. We see them a couple of times a week and we do so many things together. It will be very hard to leave them.
I live in England, nr Manchester. My daughter used to live in San Diego and every time I visited I always felt better. La Jolla is incredible especially with the sea ozone. Apparently it was the place to go years ago for anyone with lung disease, Doc Holiday went there, the friend of Wyatt Earp. Just a bit of trivia. Good luck with the move, hope your find your dream home.xx
I always wondered if Doc Holiday and Wyatt had a thing going .....
If it's any consolation. I am in the process of moving right now. Very sad, emotional but exciting because I don't know where I be hanging up my hat. I'm a city girl, London born & bred and I absolutely love where I live in Wimbledon. All my friends are here, my community, my life. But, the air's á bit polluted so it's time to move on.
It could be worse, some people have no choice.
My sister In law and her husband spend every winter in Fort Laudadale (can't spell it) but they get lots of visits from their combined families from all over USA. Then from April they are nr Michigan by the lake so get lots of visits there too!
You are so right. Some people can't move. We can count ourselves lucky in that way. Right now it's about prolonging the quality of Mike's life. So we will do what we have to do. We don't have the pollution here but the elevation is really taking a toll on Mike's breathing.
I hope you find a new and exciting place to live. Yes it is very hard but maybe a new adventure for all of us
We plan to look at lakefront homes so Mike can do some fishing and maybe the kids and I can get kayaks for when they visit, oh and of course an extra bedroom for them
Think it was more that Holiday liked someone to cover his back. He was a gambler with a history of settling scores with guns and made a lot of enemies. He went to the dry south west because he had TB. Regards Rib
Hi it.s very sad when ones heaith doesn.t allow them to as they would like to. Don.t ever give up and try and find one or two past times and may be a small dog. It.s surprising how you can share your troubles with them.
