I wondered if someone could tell me about any side effects they may have suffered from receiving a pneumonia jab, in the last few years.
I'm meant to have one, but was put of by the reaction my mother had, about 15 years ago. I believe they do not use that jab anymore, so wondered what other peoples' experiences were, more recently.
I feel I should get it, as an extra shield against Corona virus. being that the government is so intent on 'freedom day'.
Thanks, in anticipation of your responses😊

Hi anng18, Pete and I have both had pneumonia jabs with no side effects at all. Xxxx👍
I had my second one in 15 years about 3 wks ago. You are right. They are using the children's one now I believe which has more strains in it. I had a grotty day about 7 days after but no other problems.
I had one two years ago. And it was ok. But I have to say that it might be that they used something else 15 years ago. Also everyone reaction is different, some have some symptoms some get all sides effects and some don't have any at all.
So it's never bad to get one, special when the doctor recommended you to get one. best wishes 😃
Hi thereI had absolutely no side effects, but also it did not work at all and I made almost no antibodies. This led to a diagnosis of antibody deficiency.
Hi there I had letter from my GP just last week asking me to come in for my pneumonia jab, got an appointment the next day and have had no reaction apart from a slightly sore arm that evening. Hope all the replies you’ve received have been encouraging and that you get the jab, anything we can do to help keep us well is important!
I had the pneumonia jab a few years ago but I still had pneumonia three years ago. I’ve been having ongoing problems from the pneumonia ever since. So my advice to you is go ahead and have it if your Dr recommends you to have it. My pneumonia was fairly mild compared with some people’s but it still left after effects.
Hi Anng
I had no reaction whatsoever, I had mine same time as the flu jab 1st year I was diagnosed over 17 years ago. I've not had a booster, during that time I've had pneumonia twice but my theory is without pneumonia jab and getting it, I may have lost my life, still here though
If you have a diagnosed lung condition if will help protect you against any serious impacts and complications of colds, flu developing into pneumonia which can become life threatening and likewise will help protect you (heaven forbid) if you did get covid-19.
No side effects bar sore arm for a couple of days from pneumonia vaccination. Horrible and lasting side effects from having pneumonia several times before having the vaccination so no brainer really.
Like the flu jab it doesn't cover every single pneumonia bacteria or virus just the most likely strains and like the flu jab takes a couple of weeks for vaccinations to take effect.
I'm afraid I did have a reaction , funnily to the first one. But I believe that day I wasn't feeling my best anyway. The second one I was fine. But I will continue to get it , at my doctor's advice even though it won't stop me getting pneumonia it may just keep me from dying from it. Before I get any jabs nowadays, I rest as much as possible before and after. It seems to help. Just take it very easy afterwards. xx 🙋🐕
In 2019, I was given pneumococcal vaccine (PCV13 or Prevnar 13) and flu shot at the same time. I experienced mild fever and muscular aches and pains for few days.
I was given the pneumonia vaccine and flu vaccine at the same time in the autumn of 2015, about 6 months after my COPD diagnosis, and had no problems whatsoever.
