Costeochondritis is caused by overdoing something like hedge cutting, is muscular and very painful, mylife partner tells me. She got it by using hand shears for a few hours,
I have costochondritis all the time at the moment, on my left side. It's sore and aching rather than a sharp pain, but when I do stretches to ease the muscles it feels sharper. I ease it by using a Homedics massage pad.
Just to let you know, there is something called silent refux too, worth looking in to perhaps. Perhaps an endoscopy is on the cards to either confirm whether or not its gut based.
Tricky for you, if its costochronditis ibuprofen could help (if you can take it) but its not that good for the gut. Keep going to your gp for medical support & so its all o your medical records. P
I got costcochondritis after I'd been coughing really hard and continually for a few days. It was so painful to even breathe. The dreadful pain was between the breast bones.
I had never experienced it before but my doctor diagnosed right away and prescribed ibuprofen which remedied it quickly. As I also have a hiatus hernia this is something I would never usually consider taking. However,
as it was only for a few days the problem was cured and my gut survived!
I have costcochondritis and a hiatus hernia. The centre of the sternum and rib cage are my issues with costcochondritis, very tender and sore and in the centre of the base of my sternum is where my hiatus hernia causes pain.
Costcochondritis causes pain to the point I feel like I cannot breath for fear of it hurting too much and something going terribly wrong, and the hiatus hernia is extremely tender to touch.
I sleep with a long pillow in front of me with my arm over the top to stop me folding chest together, if that makes sense... 😊 it certainly works for worth conditions.
I was advised to use Ibuprofen gel on these areas and take in tablet form if necessary.
My Costcochondritis is irritated in me by doing something at arm level in line with armpits, as someone has already mentioned, hedge trimming, cleaning windows, anything where I have to hold my arms in this kind of position for long periods.
The hiatus hernia is irritated with food I think although I have followed the diet given by gastroenterology and still have issues, I have no reflux, nothing other than the feeling of soreness. This hernia was pick up on a CT scan.
