I have HH and lung problems, And it can be hard going sometimes eating certain foods which do affect breathing.

There are a lot of info online about easy digesting foods, what they call combination foods.

I have changed my diet drastically to try and have balanced combination eating theory being not to much of this and a little more of the other makes for easier digestion.

It does work 90% of the time, one key element which I have found useful is NO processed or pre pack eating things like more fibre and fruit etc.

Check it out on the net.

Iv been doing that lately and cut out biscuits and cake as I'm borderline diabetic,so gotta bring things down, but the meat I had I must admit was a bit tough then I made an instant whip,a bit later I felt I couldn't breathe ,took some gaviscon ,still a wee bit uncomfortable, checked my sats ther ok

Hi. It seems to be an excepted practice by hh suffers to eat a little often.

Large meals then puddings tea coffee at one meal fills your tummy especially hard to digest food and which moves your diaphragm up into your lungs space.

This causes pressure and reduces the area of your lung, thereby reducing the amount of in and out breathing capacity.

I am not a doctor and don`t fully understand all the doctor talk or understand all the fancy names but, like yourself I have the same kind of problems with meals.

Since I changed my diet and eating habits, things have been a lot better, but I do still get now and then the feelings you described.

I can only suggest you try it for yourself and see how you get on.

I used to enjoy a good steak but now always go for lighter options, big chunks of meat just seem to sit there for hours. Lots of different foods can cause me discomfort, I did find that Windeze capsules help to relieve it. I have been caught out a few times especially after visiting a restaurant, within a few minutes of leaving found I was gasping for breath. Your right the HH does have something to do with it

Hi, although I don't have hiatus hernia, I have been suffering the side effect of acid reflux from my steriods. I was told by the Dr today that that could be causing some of the problems with my asthma and chest and I've been given Ompeprazole to help. So it very well could be causing problems for you too!
