Kind of feel lost and mentally and emotionally overwhelmed.
It started this week, Monday morning, found a hard moveable lump on my collarbone. First I thought it was a reactive node from my second COVID vaccine jab a few days prior, did an ultrasound and biopsy, still awaiting results, but the prelim report said they found atypical cells. Kind of makes me think not vaccine related. Saw another doc today and told him about the lump, he ordered a chest x-ray for me.
Got the results immediately as it was a phone report, but basically the doctor said they found small markings on my right lung, ordered a CT scan for tomorrow.
Can someone explain small markings? It can be sign of cancer, but could it be scarring or something?
I’ve been a smoker for the last 25 years, about a pack a day. So I guess I asked for it...

Welcome to the forum. No you dident ask for anything,
but please give up smoking if you still do. Markers can mean lots of things. We can guess at all sorts but im afraid we can be no real help untill the results are in. I hope things are ok.
Hi and welcome. I saw your post on another forum and as I said there, it's good that your doctor is carrying out these tests without any delay. As corrienna said, the small markings could indicate several things which is why your doctor has requested the CT scan for more detail. I am sure that he will speak to you again as soon as he has the results.Your concern and anxiety is perfectly understandable at the moment but try not to speculate and stay off google! The good thing is that you doctor is on the ball and getting all that needs doing at this stage done. Don't beat yourself up about smoking but if you haven't already, now would be a good time to think about quitting for all kinds of health reasons. Let us know how you get on.
Welcome to this forum. It is a very friendly and supportive group. I can appreciate that you are scared, there are others here who have been through the same scenario. Your doctors seem to be very efficient and prompt, which is good. All the best
Thanks guys, and I do remember your post on the other forum. Truth be told, it’s multiple doctors, the initial one didn’t suggest getting the X-ray, but my neph did, and I pointed out the swollen node to him.
I’ve basically been pushing for thing, no one cares about your health more then you do, know what I mean.. I’m also basically alone, no siblings, not married. So I try to be proactive. Plus the waiting can oft times be worse then the diagnoses.
I made an appt next week with a Haemotologist and an ENT doctor because of the swollen lymph node. Figured my reports would be back by then. The Haemotology group is part of the Onco Comprehensive care group, so hopefully he can look at cT scan results and point me where to go next (thoracic surgeon?)
Thanks for the support, if sites like this and people like you didn’t exist, what a dark world it would be
It's good that you are able to be so proactive but unfortunate that it's needed. Many of us here have had to push for help.As Katinka said, this is a very friendly and supportive forum. There is always someone around to listen if you need back up so that you never need to feel completely alone.
No. I am in Hong Kong. I hope that doesn’t exclude me from still posting, looking more for support rather then doctor recommendations or things like that specific to the UK
No, you are absolutely not excluded. We have members from all over the world. I only asked because I wasn't familiar with Onco or what didn't seem to be a medical system like the one I know in the UK and your location explains it.You will always find support here if and when needed. Good luck in your quest for tests and answers to your health concerns.
Hello welcome to the site, you will find loads of support and the nicest people here, we all support each other so never feel you are all alone. Have a lovely day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx
Welcome to the site. Please don't feel guilty about smoking. 25 years ago we were all bombarded with adverts telling us how cool it was. I hope the outcome of your tests is good, bu,t whatever, it's good to know your doctors are on the ball. Best wishes.
Thank you every one, lots of 🤎! A bit of an update. Got my final biopsy results from the lymph node back. They think its reactive node due to vaccine jab or my chest skin infection (had an infection there for 6 month, postules had to be drained several times, existennce of proteus mirablis bacteria). No malignancy found.
Hopefully something similarly as innocent on the chest CT. I havent had a lung infection nor asthma, so, worried. But will try and enjoy the weekend as I hope you all do too!
