Don't know about you folks , but my Mucus is similar to Mount Etna in my Sicily = its Volcanic in nature ..... , it lays dormant for about a month , and then starts up . - erupts .=.. GALLONS OF IT ! ... cough cough cough . for a few weeks , I can actually feel it in my chest, when I breath .in and out . I take the usual " Carbosisteine " to "soften it " - so I'me told ! , but still its like - " EVOSTICK GLUE " when it does finally comes up , I once stuck a piece of loose wallpaper back onto the wall with it .... has'nt shifted since ! = four years later !... Apart from endless coughing - does anyone have any ideas please on how to shift this stuff ?, without becoming absolutely gasping for breath - getting it up ? ..its a vicious circle - you finally get some up , then your left , as in my case ------------- = FIT TO BE BURIED ! ..endless thanklies .....

Hiya 😊 I definitely would check in with my GP to find the best possible solution for you. It's quite hard to get rid of it best is Liquids help thin out mucus. Warm liquids in particular can help clear out mucus in the chest and nose. This can relieve congestion, giving you a small respite from your symptoms. Water, warm Apple Juice even chicken soup can help. But if it gets to much for you definitely Visit to the doctor or have a chat with the nurse. Hope you will get better again. Stay safe and keep warm. Best of luck 🌺🌺🌺

Years ago found that 2 capsules thrice daily was useless. Since then have always taken 2 capsules four times daily, the last two before bed. Gp refuses to supply the extra so I purchase online. My consultant is quite happy with my arrangement.

What do you use daily

Hmm lots of Thanklies LOL1944 for that suggestion ! - its a pity that on occasions , a Consultant has to .... OUTRANK a GP...=. my GP does'nt like the use of a NEBULISERS ,,,and it took my Consultant to get that , over the GP , I WOULD'NT BE WITHOUT IT ..., ,,,, I do wonder sometimes whose side GP s are on !! ...

Thank you sunshiney !!😃

Make sure you our not dehydrated. Check your lips, elbows or pinch the back of your hand on the knuckles. If so take a dioralyte. I loosen with a flutter then steam and then clear. Also make sure you are nose breathing, this means you breath deeper into the lungs so less mucus. I even tape my mouth at night, has been working for me. Hope this helps Vittorio.

Maybe try a different inhaler or inhaler combination? Some of the steroid ones cause a lot of mucus.

Not easy and sympthasise. Strong menthol sweets help - Halls lemon. Also I have found lemon and ginger tea also helps (lidl do one). Do your respiratory exercises as well to try to shift it. Unfortunately, the best cure I have found is sunshine and good weather. Now i've

retired to Malta my chest has been so much better

I agree with the lady who needs more carbosistiene. When I am bad I need more.

I use a flutter device when I have an infection and it certainly helps clear mucus.

Do you use a nebuliser with 7%saline.Think it helps but I agree...The mucous is like concrete... Never ending, thick & sticky & quite grotesque. Wish someone would come up with a solution.

Marshmallow root has been used traditionally as a very effective mucolytic. You can find information on the internet. There is a fairly good product, Bronchostop (syrup and pastilles) based on marshmallow root, available in pharmacies in the UK. I had a horrible cough with thick sticky mucus, started in July 2019. I didn’t know about Brondhostop in the first 6 months of my cough but when I started using it, it seemed to help reasonably well. The cough stopped after more than 6 months, but in July 2020 I started coughing something like dust. I was hospitalised and diagnosed with ABPA.

I posted a few weeks back re this problem. My daughter bought me Covonia Herbal cough syrup. It worked , brought the mucus up everytime I took it. It has liquorice in it. I also take Carbosisteine 3 times a day

Good luck xxSheila
