I have bronchietasis and asthma and have had every flu and covid vaccination that has been offered to me. It's only the sore arms that I get after the vaccination . I think it is a personal choice about getting the vaccination.
I had my covid jab on Saturday. I wasn't sure whether to go ahead but the surgery insisted I would be fine so I had it. I have a sore arm but that's all. I'm having the flu jab next week, I didn't want to risk having them together.
I have COPD and asthma and have rejected ALL vaccinations. I take daily meds for my condition which includes permanent antibiotics so feel I have enough chemicals going into my system. I am relying on these and a decent multivitamin to keep my immune system functioning as it should without giving it something else to battle, which is what vacs do. Maybe I'm lucky because I have not had covid as many of the people I know who have had the jab, have suffered a few times.
I have both jabs, but separately. It's really a personal choice, but I have never had a worse reaction than a sore arm for a couple of days. I have had covid twice in spite of the jabs. Last Christmas time it was quite nasty.
Hi, I find if I have both together, I am ill, had one on Saturday, and the next one on the next Saturday, sore arm but OK. Last time we had injections the nurse said that a lot of people were getting ill after the jab as it was a new strain.
My wife and I did not have vaccine earlier this year as it was out of stock. Went on holiday and came back with Covid - great holiday. We both had flu and covid jabs 2 weeks ago before visiting UK. She has bronch and is still suffering after effects of covid, so IMHO get the vaccination done.
I had the first 4 vaccines and didn't feel too good after each one so stopped after that. I haven't had the flu vaccine for about 20 years after having a bad reaction and recently after the shingles vaccine I was very poorly. It's a personal choice , but I won't be having anymore vaccines. Good luck with whatever you choose to do x
In my opinion, Covid has become just like any other winter bug now so I decided against having it. The bitter and twisted part of me can't help but think that if they really cared then we would be offered the RSV jab. I can only assume that it is money related..
And yes, I did get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning! 😏
Personally I wouldn't risk my lungs - or my life by missing out on all vaccinations and boosters available to me. The way I look at it if I have a reaction it shows me my immune system is dealing with it. Never worse than a sore arm and a day of feverishness (an excuse to take it easy, rest and have plenty of warm drinks in bed)!
Covid mutates so the vaccinations have to change, today's vaccinations are different from previous ones.
I dont like posts like this, too inviting for anti-vaxxers IMHO. There's plenty of information by using the search bar or contacting the helpline. Speak to your own GPs if necessary
I agree with your right to either have or not have the vaccination. Why people have to get so angry about it baffles me. Everyone has to do what they feel is right for them and respect other people's decisions, even if they disagree. I'm glad that you look at the positive side ☺️
In the end it is your choice, but I would not weigh a few days to a week feeling poorly more than the chance of severe respiratory complications. Personally I am getting all the vaccinations I can get, flu, covid, repetitions of the childhood vaccinations, you name it.
I have asthma and bronchiectasis, or the other way around, and have been getting flu shots since my late teens. That started after I missed a whole winter of school due to exacerbation following some virus.
40 years later , I am taking good care of myself with being proactive.
So stay indoors if the air is smoggy, sleep enough and get the flu/covid in October , early November so you're all set for all the December gatherings.
I also have asthma - I do get flu jab and have no reaction but Covid makes me ill for 1-2 weeks. Not great when you have to take more sick leave from work - it’s great to hear everyone’s views. I’m still weighing up options. Will speak to Consultant next week. Thank you.
Me Maddie. Had a bad reaction to Moderna caused all sorts of problems with my lung. So no. I've just had my RSV with no effect. I don't have flu either
I have just had the flu jab this year and still got this dreaded headcold and cough that's going around. The A.Z vaccine was causing blood clots in some people in their 30s. And 1 guy was paid out £120,000 for the death of his wife. So I am not having the covid. Brian
It's gd to see a post like this, reading pros+ cons of personal experiences. I had my flu+ covid jabs at same time, different arms, with no probs beyond usual sore ATM for cpl days - more the flu 1 than covid.i had the moderna covid jab ths time
I have any vaccination that's offered to me. Had both together this year, just sore arms.
I always used to be ill after vaccinations, but since I started resting for a couple hours after the injection then trying not to overdo it for a week after I've been fine 😊.
No I don't have any of the jabs ,had Covid and was absolutely fine had worse chest infections, have a very bad reaction to flu jab so have not had one for over 30 years ,keep myself well with healthy food and probiotics
Thank you everyone for replying. From replies it’s very much split on opinions. Seeing Consultant next week so will have a chat about it. If I didn’t get so ill I would take it. Going to ask about RSV as people that seem to get that don’t have such bad reaction.
