Hello all . I just wondered if anyone else has a problem with allergy to daffodils. I have never noticed before that they have a scent until this year , it would be good to hear if it's just me or not . !! 🤔🤔

I haven’t ever noticed but some flowers...lillies particularly trigger off my asthma. Some flowers will make me sneeze non stop, but the lillies get to my chest. I guess it’s more than possible that you could have an allergy to daffodils!

Thanks madonbrew . I just have to add daffodils to my no no list , along with hyacinth and ofcourse the dreaded lily as they all get to my chest 😊

Aww bless you! Yes I forgot hyacinths! They are really strong!

Narcissus are scented the pale yellow ones are highly scented , but not noticed the golden yellow ones having a scent, but then I don't have them indoors just in the garden. Flowers best not inside the house, although I do like lavender flowers inside occasionally and I love the fragrance of Daphne (in flower at the moment) , most gorgeous scent. I do have a sprig of that inside at the moment :)

No, I can’t cope with daffodils indoors either...it’s a shame! I keep them indoors while they’re in bud, then they go out onto the garden table, just outside our window, and we adore them from there. My chap is a Welshman, he loves his daffs. But my asthma can’t cope with any perfumes indoors, natural or chemical.

Thanks Yatzy . I have done the same , they are now outside my kitchen window . Such a shame . 😥

I’ve never had an allergy to daffodils but our dachshund did, so we had to wash him off whenever he came from the garden, otherwise his face would swell dreadfully. ( I am not suggesting you are a dachshund!) It must be most uncomfortable and I hope it goes off soon x

I have noticed over the past couple of years that I can have less types of cut flowers in the house - it started with lilies and then I noticed daffodils last year to add to the list. At the moment I’m safe with Roses and gerberas!!! I bought some artificial ones as I missed having flowers!! (Weren’t too expensive and look very convincing!!)

I'm fine with daffodils but can't be in the same room as lilies!

Not me, I'm celebrating St David's Day (Dyddf Dewi Sant) with daffodils - our national flower.

Strangely enough we have some daffodils in the lounge and I have been coughing a lot. Thought I had caught a cold. Think said daffs will be binned tomorrow.

Yes, I noticed my reaction to daffodils few years ago , I stopped planting them in my garden ( felt kinda sad) ... my neighbour does a display every year & I dread walking by them every day.I always feel bit silly telling people as I can see that weird look on their face as if I’m making it up.
