No one can answer this question. I wouldn’t survive the virus I’m pretty certain.

I think from a week ago, when you last posted this question, we still don't know. Maybe someday there will be data out there, but probably after the fact. xx 👋

I don't think we will probably ever know that, just like with flu. I have read in many places, there are more undiagnosed people who have a COPD disease than us that are diagnosed.

We just must do what we do to stay well from all virus and flu....we are most probably better prepared for safety than the majority of people..we were hand washing alot and antibacterial lotion and wipes have been in our life long before this.

Take care, stay safe....spring is coming...🦋🌼🦋

Hi I have COPD, Emphysema, AF and type 2 Diabetes all I know is that if I contract the Corona 19 Virus I do not have much of a chance to survive, worrying but what can you do, just keep fighting. Try not to worry best wishes Bevanboy.

My outlook is this. Everybody is making a big song and dance about this virus but the truth is flu kills far more. Yes we have a flu vaccine but that only projects you from certain strains and some years they get it wrong. Yes we are at risk but there are many other bugs out there that could harm us only the media etc have not sensationalized them.

well said Badbessie and I certainly share your outlook

Hi, it’s a worry...check out Caspianas reply on the previous post Thoughts on Covid 19 .....for some practical advice.

I think I will give up listening so much to the News, as if I catch the virus I guess I would be in trouble, but worrying just adds to my normal breathing problems.

Take practical solutions, hand wash , avoid touching face and eyes etc.

Maybe I will just check News from time to time to see what’s going on .

If I get it I'm going presume that it's a death sentence,,coz also have mild kidney and mild heart related conditions the we all get as we age...I'm 65.....lungs may survive but this virus then attacks the kidneys, liver,,heart and other organs....so maybe a younger person survived....

But we dont know. Best to try not getting it...but hard to do because easily spread and most like ,,,the way it's spreading most people will have it unless a vaccine or breakthrough in treatments....

Hi Creaner,

This article, towards the end, has some statistics on the death rate etc. and who is most affected.

Oxygen therapy is a major treatment intervention for someone who has severe Covid19.

We have been told that it may only be fatal for the old and infirm i.e. people with underlying health conditions. That is wrong because young health clinicians have died. Just be sensible, without being paranoid, and take all necessary precautions as outlined by the authorities and you, and I, hopefully will be ok.

ps: I have severe COPD and unstable angina.

Regards

Kevin

This is very worrying for us people with copd and asthma, emphysema etc. We all have to work or go to job centres or looking after parents and kids etc. Don’t think this Cobra meeting this morning is going to give us much. After all, hasn’t been dealt with before!!??🤨😩

I am wondering what will happen when the corona virus spreads even further, are they still going to ask vulnerable (with underlying health conditions) groups of jobseekers to come in for 5 minute appointments that could well be done over the telephone, especially if they have to use public transportation to get to the jobcentre?

That is not up to us. No one knows when we will leave this earth. Just keep on living your life to your best and give thanks & praise for every day you have been given. No one knows why some people get COPD and others do not. Why people like me who have lived a heathy life and got it and others who don’t live a healthy life never get ill. If it is your time, it’s your time. So can people survive it of cause they can. This virus as taken the healthy and weak.

Hi Creanerweldonjanet1

OK here is what anyone of us with COPD can do to aid in having a strong immune system. One of the doctors in China treating his patients is also using Vitamin C in high doses intravenously, but for us here at home I take 1000mg Vit C per day with food. I also use Colloidal Silver spray onto the Mask, and I also use it in my nebuliser.

Anything that you can do to improve your immune system will help immensely. Washing hands, using anit-bacterial soap and a sanitizer gel.

Make sure that you are using your COPD inhalersand anything else that your Consultant or GP has prescribed for you.

I know that this virus is scary for us, but you can only make sure to help yourself by keeping updated on the daily news broadcasts

Let's pray that it will soon burn itself out

Take care everyone

HUGS

Hard to answer that one. We can only hope & pray it doesn’t take as long as they are telling us to find a vaccine. I am out in Bexleyheath shopping and having a coffee and I don’t see anyone wearing masks and people are sneezing and blowing their noses over everyone else as usual!!!

We are all vulnerable.

Agree we can wash our hands use sanitizer do all that is necessary. But we can just hope others will do the same 👍

Hi, Janet, I am sorry I do not know the answer, does anyone? I phoned the doc this morning over something else and the advice given by the reception staff is - stay out of crowded places and keep washing your hands. Remember if you sneeze do it into a handkerchief, throw the handkerchief away immediately and wash your hands for 20 seconds, oh and always dry your hands thoroughly. Don't go to the doctors surgery if you feel unwell, phone and they will tell you where to go in your location to be checked for the Corona virus. As we all know not touching door handles, grab rails etc. without gelling our hands afterwards is just part of our normal every lives. So just stay vigilant and try not to worry. Take care, Maximonkey.

Now would be a good time to become a hermit, at least until it comes under control or a vaccine becomes available. You can still go out, so long as you never come across another human or touch contaminated surfaces.
